Sarah was nodding her head like everything I said was expected and it should've been. Any responsible gun owner would make sure their child understood the safety aspect of them.
"Now would you like to go downstairs and get that coffee you so badly wanted?"
A blush so deep red that I thought Sarah might stroke out crept up her face. "I can't face Andrew. Not yet at least."
I crowded her space and kissed her stupid. I didn't stop until she was putty in my hands, and then for good measure I slapped her ass. "Put some pants on and let's go get some caffeine in your system."
I knew my method of distracting her worked when she had a dazed look in her eyes and she followed my command without a single protest.
After throwing on my own clothes and putting the gun back in the drawer, I grabbed her hand and led her downstairs.
The daze she was in wore off the second we crossed into the kitchen and found Andrew sitting at the island in what I was assuming was the same position he had been in when she first came down.
"Morning, son."
Andrew glanced over for a second before going back to whatever he was doing on his phone. "Morning, Dad. Good morning, Sarah."
I gave her a look that said I told you so and I got an eye roll in return.
"Did you have breakfast yet?" I asked him.
"Nope, I was waiting for you two sleepyheads to get out of bed."
I walked around the island and smirked at my son. I knew exactly what he was doing and I appreciated him for it. He knew Sarah was freaking out and was trying to relax her. I was going to owe him big-time and I knew just the way to make it up to him.
"How would you like to have some of your friends over today?"
It was never fun being cooped up in the house. Plus, I already knew the few friends he would invite over. Andrew had known them since preschool and I had done extensive backgrounds on their parents so I knew it would be safe.
"Really?" Andrew perked up and set his phone down on the counter. "That would be okay?"
"As long as you stayed inside, I don't see why not. And my team will be coming over so everyone will be protected."
A big-ass smile broke out on my son's face. "Thanks, Dad."
"Welcome." I turned around and found a very nervous-looking Sarah biting her lip. "What's wrong?"
She fidgeted with her hands. "That's a lot of people to be hosting."
I couldn't fathom what she meant by hosting. It was just my team and some of Andrew's friends. Slap food in front of their faces and they were golden. I told her as much.
"Yes, but what kind of food do I make and do you even have stuff in the house? You said you aren't here much and we were gone for over a week, so anything in the fridge might be spoiled." Sarah was rambling on in one breath that I was afraid she was going to pass out due to lack of oxygen.
"Breathe, sweetheart." I walked over and rubbed her arms. "This isn't a party. We don't need anything fancy. A few trays of pizza and everyone would be happy."
"I can't just throw pizza on the table and call it a day. I need to do something."
I felt like something big was happening here, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out what it was. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and opened up the app that I used to have groceries delivered.
"Here." I handed it to her. "Order whatever you think you need and it will be delivered in two hours."
Sarah stared at my phone like it was a bomb about to go off.
"I can order anything?"
Somehow, I knew this was a big moment for us, so I took her hand and dragged her into the living room. I sat us both down on the couch so that we were facing each other.
"Talk to me. Why does this feel like a big deal?"
