"No, just us but we weren't in the water long before the pirates scooped us up." I shared a look with my team leader and I knew he understood my meaning immediately. We had to have been targeted for them to find us so quickly.

"Black has Vortex out looking. They’re supposed to report as soon as they find something."

Vortex was another of Blackguard's Boston teams. Black had several but not all of them did similar work to ours. Vortex did though. They were the search and rescue group of the company.

"When did he send them?"

"They came in with us and split off. Hopefully it won't take them long to find something."

I had a feeling the ship was no longer in the area but maybe I was wrong. "Let's take this outside." I didn't want William eavesdropping. I was grateful for all the man had done for us, but our work tended to revolve around sensitive topics.

"Maybe you want to change into something a little less . . . tight?" Parker chuckled as he threw a duffle bag at me.

I looked down at the basketball shorts and shirt William gave me. They were indeed a size too small and showing off more than I cared to.

"Good idea. Give me a minute." I snagged Sarah's hand on my way and pulled her with me. To her credit she didn't pull away or put up a fight.

I dug through the bag and found a pair of sweatpants. "Here, put these on," I said as I tossed them at her.

"A please would be nice."

I gritted my teeth. "Please."

"See? Was that so hard?"

No, but I wasn't used to anyone caring how polite I was. The guys on the team were equally crass and the only other person I spoke to was my son but I was always polite when it came to him.

"Maybe a little," I teased.

Sarah rewarded me with a big smile. "A little privacy, please."

I turned around so fast that I almost toppled over. The last thing I needed to do was to see her half naked.

Or conjure up pictures in my head.

I dropped the shorts and yanked out a pair of boxers and pants, thankful that my friends had the forethought to bring me clothes since I forgot to ask Matthew for them. I got dressed as quickly as possible and peeked over my shoulder to see if Sarah was done only to find her standing in my sweatpants with a glossed look in her eyes.

"Seeing your bare ass wasn't on my bingo card for the day."

My cheeks heated at her words. I hadn't even thought about what she would see when I stripped down. I had solely been focused on getting into my own clothes.

"Sorry about that."

"Oh, you have absolutelynothingto be sorry about."

I groaned at her implication and was forced to rearrange myself in my pants. "You're not helping by staring."

"You're the one who didn't hide what you were doing," she was quick to snap back at me.

"Touché." I found that I liked sparring with her. It was playful and fun. Two things I hadn't done with a woman in a very long time, if ever. "You ready to go speak with my team?"

"Give me five minutes to freshen up and then yes. Although I have nothing to contribute. My life before the plane crash was boring."

I highly doubted there was anything boring about Sarah but I also didn't believe anything that happened was her fault. I think she was an unfortunate bystander of being seated next to the wrong person on the plane.

I don't know what possessed me to do what I did next, but it felt right. I brushed my lips across her forehead before walking out of the room to meet my friends.

I found my team waiting for me outside.
