She took his face between her hands and looked him right in the eye. “I was madly attracted to youbeforetoday happened, and watching you in bad-ass rescue mode was just icing on the cake. In other words, I wanted you then, and I want you now.”
“But—”
She laid a finger over his lips.
“There are no ‘buts’. If you want to do this, I’m all in.” Her eyes suddenly softened. “But if you don’t… I get it. Youshouldbe completely worn out after what you did today; and you might not have anything left in the tank. Which only makes sense. I’m just hoping that if you back off, you’ll assure me that you’re still interested before you walk away. In which case, I’ll pragmatically take a rain check.”
Spencer needed to immediately reassure her that he was primed and ready, but Tabitha wasn’t finished.
“Myengines, however,” she continued, “are currently red-lining, so I’m just saying, if you’renotgoing to follow through, I need to know right the hell now. Then I can head into my solitary room and drive this car by myself.”
“By yourse—?” It took Spencer a split second, but he got it. “Oh, hell no.”
Although the picture Tabitha conjured of some buzzing device being thrust between pretty pink nether-lips was damned titillating, it wasnotthe way Spencer pictured the night finishing out.
He quickly shook his head free of doubts, and decided to take Tabitha at her word. She wasn’t pulling his chain. She was a grown-ass woman. She knew what she wanted, and it was him.
Hell to the yes.
He picked her up again, this time cradled in his arms where he could bury his face in her neck and hair.
Because far be it from him to disappoint her.
Or himself.
CHAPTER 17
Tabitha lovedSpencer’s five o’clock shadow scraping across her sensitive skin as he nuzzled her neck, but the longer they stood in the companionway with his lips making her belly do flip-flops, the more frustrated she got. Somebody had to open the door to her tiny closet of a room so they could move things in a “no-clothes” direction before she spontaneously combusted. It looked like it had to be her.
She disengaged her hand from Spencer’s shirt where she’d somehow latched on, and fumbled down beneath her bottom to find the latch.
“Bingo,” she cried triumphantly.
Spencer raised his head in a daze. “Huh?”
“My door. It’s open,” she giggled.
“Oh.” He blinked twice. “I thought I’d, uh, hit a spot that…did it for you,” he managed sheepishly.
Tabitha threw back her head and laughed. “FYI,allthe skin you licked made my body-parts sit up and take notice. But now it’s time to focus on those parts you’ve so farneglected.”
Spencer didn’t reply, he simply nodded, booted the door open with his foot, carried her into her little space, and?—
“Uh, uh. No way,” he grumbled. “There’s not a chance we’re doing anything on that rickety looking cot.” He groaned. “We’ll end up on the floor within the first thirty seconds, then the rescue squad will burst in, wondering what the commotion is all about.”
“I doubt if anyone will dare interrupt us, but…” Tabitha wound her arms around Spencer’s neck and lifted her hips from the cradle of his arms. Freeing her legs, she gave a small jump down, then up again to wrap them securely around his hips.
“Do you, by any chance, remember us having a ‘horizontal’ debate?” She tapped him on the cheek with a grin.
“I, uh…sort of? Maybe?” he puzzled.
And wasn’t that just freaking adorable? A man who didn’t pretend to be infallible.
Tabitha immediately let him off the hook. “Well, here’s a reminder. You said something about getting horizontal when we finally…got the chance to explore our crazy attraction, and I questioned that assertion because,” she took one arm from around him and waved it at the miniscule cot, “I knew that wasn’t going to happen here.”
When he huffed, she gave him the good news, prodding him seductively. “Isn’t it serendipitous that I happen tolovesex against a wall?”
A fire lit inside Spencer’s eyes as he spun her about and leaned her back against the closed door. He ground his ever-hardening cock into the seam of her jeans, right where she needed it most.
