It wasn’t, but soon it would be. I started walking again, only slower to match her stride. We reached the end of the tunnel and climbed out. “Is there a second way out of the room if there’s a fire or the tunnel collapses?”

“Yeah,” she said. “There’s another near my workstation.”

“Where does it lead?”

“To an opening in the woods outside of FT’s grounds.”

We walked back to the park, and I opened the door and waited for her to climb out. I slowly scanned the area looking for anything that looked amiss. Nothing seemed out of place, but I couldn’t shake the feeling of being watched.

I climbed into the driver’s side and shoved the key in the ignition.

“You feel like we’re being watched, too.” She gazed out the tinted windows.

“Yeah. Let’s just hope they don’t figure out where we’ve been.”
