He suggested giving her some space. Surely, two days was long enough. So I sent her a text message first thing this morning, asking if she was doing okay.

And in true Kinsley-stubbornness fashion, she refused to respond to any of my texts. She’d read them but couldn’t be bothered to respond. I’d had enough. She was going to learn.

Ignoring me wasn’t the answer. I had major questions for her. I needed answers to them, and I’d get them one way or another. If she wanted my hand across her ass so badly, I’d accommodate her this time.

The café’s bell rung as I stepped through the door, and I had to get in line behind three other customers. God, she looked gorgeous in a simple pair of sparkly black-and-pink leggings with a matching top. Her ever-present apron was snug across her body, emphasizing her curves. When she saw me, she glared daggers my way.

“Don’t you know it’s rude to read someone’s messages and not respond?”

“What can I get you?” she asked, ignoring my question.

“Kitten—”

“It’s Kinsley or Ms. Taylor. I’d prefer if you used my given name. Do you need more time to look at the menu?” She shoved one in my direction and turned to the person behind me.

I’d had enough of her childish attitude. Storming around the corner, I stalked over to her. She backed up and put her hand out like it was going to stop me. I grabbed her wrist in my hand and yanked her to me as my body roared to life.

The fire burning in her eyes and the way her body was pressed into mine had my blood rushing to my cock. The resoundingslapas I smacked my hand across her ass echoed through the small space. Her beautiful eyes flared wide, and she gasped.

A stunning red blush bloomed across her face, and I leaned down and spoke in her ear. “Is that what you wanted? Trust and believe that’s only the beginning. I’ve got a lot more where that came from.” She squirmed and pushed against my chest. “Stop fighting me, young lady.” My voice had the desired effect. She sagged in my arms.

“Kinsley is clocking out early,” I called over her shoulder, speaking to her manager, who had walked over. He nodded and looked like he only wanted us to disappear.

She grabbed her purse and said goodbye. Taking her outside, I walked her straight to the car.

“Good afternoon, Ms. Taylor,” Marcus greeted, opening the door. She mumbled a greeting and climbed into the car without a single word in my direction. At least she was being cooperative.

“I have questions for you. What the hell did you mean? My loss was someone else’s gain?” I asked as Marcus pulled out into traffic. He made a point to ensure the door was unlocked, remembering that Kinsley was skittish about that.

“That’s the burning question you’ve been blowing my phone up for?” she scoffed, shaking her head. I opened my mouth to respond, and she spoke before I could.

“You seem like a fairly intelligent man, so I won’t explain it like you’re a five-year-old, but it means exactly what you think it does.”

The little shit had no idea how much restraint I was using with her. “Humor me. Explain it.”

“Are you serious? Wow, okay, so here’s the scoop. Since you failed to give me what I wanted—”

“You wanted me and my brothers to spank your ass and fuck your tight little pussy with our fingers for the first time with an audience?” I looked at her. She couldn’t be serious.

“So crass. What I want never seems to matter to you. My comment was simple. What you failed to do, I’ve found someone who will.”

“Like fucking hell you will, little girl. This tells me everything I need to know—you are clueless.” I shook with anger. The thought of her putting herself in danger so recklessly had me seeing red.

“Fuck you, Aleksandr King. You have no idea who I am or what I’ve done in my life. I can absolutely tell you I know better than to put myself at risk. I’m not meeting with an online rando. I’m young, not stupid. Life has taught me a thing or two.”

“Is that so? Tell me, where did you find this man?” I couldn’t believe the words coming out of her mouth.

“That’s none of your business. You had your chance. At the gala, you said you’d never leave me hungry. That was a lie. Because you most definitely—”

“Say no more. Marcus, home, please,” I barked; the little shit wanted me to spank her, so be it.

“Marcus, the only home you’ll take me to is mine.”

“Did you think I was taking you to my place?” I sneered. “That’s a privilege, kitten, and you haven’t earned it yet. But we’ll see how you do today.”

She reached out and slapped me, taking me by surprise. I caught her hand and squeezed it in mine.

“Striking someone in anger is never a good—”
