“Shhhh, don’t cry.I’m sorry, it’s not a bad thing.I meant that last night made me realise that I don’t want to beanalpha giving you what you need, I want to beyouralpha.I want us to be more than team mates who fuck, Emil.”
I turned to face him, and his expression was sincere.
“You… you really mean that?”I hiccupped while he wiped away my tears with his thumbs.
“Let me take you on a date, Em?”He leaned down to press his forehead against mine.
I couldn’t find the words, so I just kissed him instead.
“Is that a yes?”he asked, smiling.
I nodded, grinning up at him.
A throat cleared, stealing our attention.“Sorry to interrupt your moment,” Harbour said.“But if we don’t shower soon, the locker room is going to become a hormonal biohazard.”
I looked over my shoulder to see the four other alphas all looking exhausted and dishevelled and, as memories from the last twenty-four hours came flooding back, I wanted to hide from mortification.
It was hard to hide, though, when you were in a room of open showers, so I resorted to burying my face into Tobias’ chest hair like if I couldn’t see them, they couldn’t see me.
Harbour came up behind me and gave my shoulder a friendly squeeze.“I’m glad you’re okay, Cherry. We talk a lot of shit in the locker room, I know. But we won’t ever talk about this again if you don’t want us to, alright?”he said quietly.
“Thank you,” I all but squeaked out, still hiding my face.
I stayed that way for several minutes as the sound of several showers turning on filled the room and the guys bantered with each other about random shit like they always did.
“You good?”Tobias whispered.
“Can you take me to a bed and cuddle me?”
“Any time, Em.”
We decided in the end to hold off on our date until after the final. There wasn’t much time to do anything except eat, sleep, train, and repeat for the most important match any of us had ever played in.
Despite our lack of a date, Tobias and I hadn’t spent a single night apart since. When I stayed over at his place, he got up before me and brought up breakfast in bed and it was a sight I wasn’t sure I’d ever get used to.Tobias was so… doting.
He was the perfect balance for me.When we fucked, he would manhandle me and give it to me as hard as I needed but in day-to-day life, while still his gruff usual self, he was soft and kind.
We were on the coach headed down south, ready for our game the following day.I stared out the window as we sped down the motorway with Tobias’ big hand gripping my thigh. He was on the aisle seat so he, Coach and Casper could go over the final game plans for the one hundredth time.I was pretty certain I could recite them at this point.
“You need to start letting Cherry sleep, man.Look at him, he’s all tuckered out,” Harbour teased Tobias.
“I’m awake, dipshit.I was just resting my eyes. Some of us plan to win a game tomorrow.”
“He’s quite snarky when he’s just woken up, isn’t he?”Harbour directed at Tobias again.
“I can’t say that’s been my experience.I usually find he wakes up with alotof energy to burn.”Tobias smirked while I rolled my eyes because I couldn’t actually deny that fact.
When we arrived at the hotel, we were given our room assignments.A few of the guys had arranged a card game in one of the rooms to kill some time, but I didn’t intend to join them.
Carlos, one of the assistant coaches, handed me my room key before Tobias promptly swiped it from my hand and gave it back.
“He won’t be needing that,” he said, a bit more smugly than was required.
“Sorry,” I said to Carlos before following Tobias in the direction of what I guess was nowourroom.
The second we stepped inside and the door closed behind me, Tobias was on me.He pressed me against the door and kissed me like he hadn’t already fucked me that same morning.
“What’s got into you?”I asked breathlessly.
