Storm...likedbabies. Lucy was perfect in his arms.

“What do you think?” Storm turned, showing the little girl to Linus.

Heat swept up Linus’ throat. Was this some kind of courtship gesture?

“I-I, uh. I have to check on the produce.” Linus took a step back, so flustered that he couldn’t think.

Further away, Drake smirked knowingly.

Storm tried to rock the baby in his arms. He tried to sing, too.

Oh gods.Linus couldn’t keep watching. Something in his body was reacting to this scene, something that made his blood rushwarmly through his veins. He fought down a blush and took another step back. Then another.

His foot caught on something. He lost his balance.

Linus fell backward, yelping as he went down.

A MEDICAL ‘EXAM’

Storm turned. In slow motion, Linus saw the horror that flashed through the alpha’s face.

He hit the ground hard, shock jolting through his body.

In moments, Storm was by his side, carefully gathering Linus into his arms. “Professor! Are you hurt?”

“I’m fine,” Linus said immediately.

Storm frowned. After a moment, he said, “I need to see for myself that you’re okay.”

“How?”

“I won’t ask you to take off your clothes. But I want to check for broken bones. That will mean me touching you through your clothes.”

Linus stopped breathing. His entire body tingled. “I—I suppose that’s okay.”

Storm released Linus, kneeling in front of him. He watched Linus’ face for a while as though expecting a reaction. Then hegently grasped Linus’ head and brushed his fingertips through Linus’ hair, keeping a firm pressure on his scalp. “Tell me if anything hurts.”

“Okay,” Linus whispered.

Storm kept brushing his hair, from his forehead all the way to the back of his neck. His fingertips swept up from Linus’ ears to the top of his skull and left no inch untouched. By the time he had checked Linus’ entire head, Linus’ scalp was tingling, and he almost begged for more.

Storm kneaded his fingertips down Linus’ neck, working his way over Linus’ shoulders. He squeezed Linus lightly through his shirt, then trailed his large hands down Linus’ arms, cupping his elbows and rubbing his thumbs over Linus’ wrists.

Linus’ skin hummed. But Storm’s examination was far from over. He took Linus’ hands in his own and rotated them, then gently squeezed each finger.

“Nothing hurts?” Storm asked again.

“My palms ache. I used them to break my fall.”

They were a little red, but the skin wasn’t broken. Storm soothed them with his thumbs.

He’s holding my hands,Linus thought.

“I’m going to—to check your chest now.” Storm blushed.

Linus blushed, too. Alphas weren’t supposed to touch omegas’ chests unless they were intimate with each other. Would Storm really do that...?
