A rosy tint dusted Storm’s cheeks. He scooped up another forkful of potatoes, blew on it, and fed it into Linus’ mouth, his movements slow and tantalizing.

Is he trying to seduce me?

Their gazes kept locking on each other. Storm looked into Linus’ eyes as he slipped more warm, delicious food past Linus’ lips, as though he was leaving load after load inside him.

This isn’t sex,Linus tried to tell himself.

“Do you like it?” Storm murmured.

“Yes.”

Whatever Storm meant by that question, Linus’ answer was a resoundingyes.

“Good.” Storm stroked his thumb beneath Linus’ lower lip. Then he pulled away and began plating their dinner. “Time to eat.”

“Wasn’t that... eating?” Linus felt so lost without Storm’s touch grounding him.

“It was a different kind of eating.” Storm grinned and gently grasped Linus’ shoulder, turning him toward the dining table. He pulled out a chair for Linus, then brought out two plates and two glasses of water.

Storm was still blushing lightly; Linus couldn’t tear his eyes away.

No alpha had ever blushed because of him. It felt odd in a good, fizzy way.

Storm tucked into his food before Linus did, an easy enjoyment spreading across his face. He didn’t stop smiling.

“Why are you so happy?” Linus asked.

The alpha blinked. “Why can’t I be?”

“This is just dinner.”

“It’s not just dinner.” Storm grinned and went back to eating, his eyelids fluttering shut with pleasure. “Good food, great company...”

“I’m not even saying anything.”

“You just did.”

Linus spluttered. “You know what I mean!”

“Well, I do.” Storm gazed at him warmly. “But not all conversations are held with words. Not all silences have to be filled.”

“Wise words for one so young,” Linus murmured.

Storm shrugged. “Sometimes I feel young. But other times... Knowing the things I’ve seen, I feel old.”

“Whathaveyou seen?” Linus glanced at the silvery scars on Storm’s large hands.

The alpha looked away. “Enough.”

Linus reached over, carefully covering Storm’s hand with his own. Storm jerked his gaze up in surprise. “You can tell me, whenever you want. Whatever you want,” Linus said quietly. “If you need to vent. I won’t judge.”

Storm’s lips pulled into a tiny smile. “I’ll remember that.”

They stared at each other for a long, electric moment. Then Linus ducked his head self-consciously.

“This is really delicious,” Storm said after he had helped himself to seconds on the pasta. “You should write down the recipe.”

Linus laughed. “And letyoudo all the cooking? I think not.”
