“You don’t?”
“I just want answers.” Linus huddled into his sheets.
“I’ll try my best.”
Linus scooted up against the headboard. Only then did he glimpse his forgotten dildo.
He squawked and grabbed it with his sheet-covered hands, yanking hard. Except the headboard refused to release his toy.
Linus made a strangled sound, throwing his entire weight into each desperate yank. Storm half-expected the headboard to splinter.
Then the dildo came off with a pop. Taken by surprise, Linus and the dildo both went flying—the dildo bounced off the bed and smacked wetly against the floor, rolling a few feet away.
“Oh, gods,” Linus moaned, pulling the sheets over his head. “This is humiliating.”
“I find it adorable, you know,” Storm said fondly.
“Adorable?” Linus cried.
“Does my face say otherwise?” Storm crouched to pick up the toy, setting it gently in front of Linus. It left a smear of slick on his hand. He had to force himselfnotto lick it off.
Not in front of Linus, anyway.
Linus whimpered and huddled further into his sheets. “You—You touched that.”
Suddenly nervous, Storm wet his lips. “Is that a bad thing?”
“You don’t care that you grabbed my—my toy?”
It’s now or never.Storm drew a deep breath. “Would you be offended if I said that wasn’t my first time touching it?”
Linus’ eyes grew so wide, Storm worried they might fall out.
Storm backed away. Maybe this was all a bad idea. Maybe Linus was going to change his locks, and Storm would never be allowed back in here.
He swore at himself, retreating to the door.
“I... don’t mind,” Linus said in a very small voice.
Storm stopped fleeing. He looked over his shoulder. “Are you sure?”
Linus nodded.
“You know that’s not a sane answer, right?”
“Yes, but... I trust you.”
Storm’s heart swelled. But this still felt precarious, so he backed away anyway. “I don’t want to make you uncomfortable. Which makes me a hypocrite, I know.”
“Will you answer a few questions, at least?” Linus looked beseechingly at him.
Storm readjusted his shirt; his knot still hadn’t gone down. “Shoot.”
“When did you get in here? I saw you in my classroom.”
“Just a few minutes before you did.”
“Did I lock the door wrong?” Linus looked worried again.
