“Some other time.” Duke grinned. “I don’t want you fainting on me, sweetheart. Eat.”
Nat gulped down some chocolate milk and forked a large piece of pie into his mouth. He crunched up a pickle too, chewing quickly.
“Good.” Duke shuffled a stack of papers. “Now, we’ll discuss your pregnancy contract.”
Nat spat out his milk. Duke looked over in surprise.
“Sorry!” Nat grabbed some tissues and hurriedly dried off his pants. “I should’ve been expecting it. It just... sounds so questionable.”
Duke nodded. “I’m planning to make it as easy to swallow as I can.”
Nat choked again.
Duke winced. “I apologize.”
“It’s okay,” Nat coughed. “It’s just... It’s weird to hear that coming from my boss.”
Duke seemed to have trouble biting down his smile. “Nat, you’ve been in my bed twice now. We’ve seen each other naked.”
“And you’ve knotted me multiple times. I know.” Nat groaned. “I should be used to it.”
“We should just head down the deep end.” Duke set Nat’s food on his other side and handed him the stack of papers. “Read.”
The contract was written in simple English. There was no fine print; the paragraphs were short, and there were often bullet points that made everything so much easier to understand.
“Why can’t all contracts be like this?” Nat whined. He’d seen some of the paperwork Duke had to sign, and those wereawful.Even the fine print had finer print and footnotes.
Duke smiled. “Because I want you to know exactly what you’re agreeing to. By signing this contract, you’ll be committed to carrying this child to term. I will ensure that you are pregnant by depositing my load into you as many times as necessary. Even after we know you’ve conceived.”
Nat squirmed. “There’s nothing I don’t like in here.”
“Really? Even the part where I continue filling you all the way up to your due date?”
“I like your cock,” Nat mumbled, his cheeks growing hot. “If you’re going to give it to me every other day, there’s no way I’d say no.”
“Sometimes multiple times a day,” Duke murmured.
“I want that,” Nat croaked.
The only thing at risk here, was his heart.
This contract was everything he’d dreamed of when he’d been pregnant with Wanda. Duke would provide several things: healthcare, shelter, food, baby clothes... Even everything Wanda needed. In the contract, Duke promised to rub Nat’s feet when they ached; he promised to give Nat backrubs, and he wanted to hear about Nat’s morning sickness and discomfort.
It was everything short of Duke promising to be his mate.
Nat’s throat tightened. “Yeah,” he said hoarsely. “I’ll sign it.”
Duke frowned and leaned closer. “Are you feeling okay?”
“Just... emotional, I guess. I didn’t have any of this with Wanda.”
Duke’s eyes flashed. He scooped Nat onto his lap and gave him a tight hug, strong arms holding him safe. “You’ll get everything from now on, sweetheart. And if you choose to stick around after the birth, I’ll make sure you’re well provided for.”
“Okay,” Nat mumbled.
Of course he wanted to stick around. Over the past three days, Duke had become a major source of comfort. He was the reason why Nat woke up eagerly in the mornings; he fitted so easily into Nat’s heart and life. Too easily.
It felt as though there had been a hole in Nat’s chest before, that he hadn’t known about. Until Duke had come along and filled it. And now Nat didn’t want this to ever end.
