“Look at those, aren’t these hot!” Glen exclaimed, pulling a bra-and-knickers set off the hangers and holding it in front of me. That particular one was black and had straps going every which way, barely hiding anything at all.

“No. Most definitely not.”

“You have to try it on before you refuse.”

Yeah. When Glen got too insisting, I could not win. Five minutes later, I stood in the changing room with my mouth gaping open, wearing only straps across my breasts, unable to cover the underwear I wore with what little the knickers had to offer. If I’d thought my cotton bras needed an upgrade, this most definitely didn’t suffice as an appropriate replacement. Finding me wet and in this—well, that would end up with much more than just staring. Which I supposed was the entire point of this shopping trip.

“How does it look?” Glen asked from behind the curtain.

“Umm... a bit uncomfortable.”

“I’m coming in!” Without waiting for a response, she slipped through the curtain, and I rushed to make sure there was no gap left for anyone to peek through.

“Glen!” I crossed my arms over my chest after I was certain nobody could see me.

“Come on, Hallie. I’ve seen you in a bra before.”

“Not in this bra.” I pouted but, once again, had no choice but to relent.

I dropped my hands, chewing on my lower lip as Glen grinned like a lunatic. “This is perfect! You look ravishing. You have to buy it.”

“I will never wear it in my life.”

“You most certainly will. For Luke.”

I mean, it did look hot. It looked way more than just hot, but thinking about showing up at Luke’s place wearing this made me want to melt through the floor and disappear. It wasn’t my style.

What about those cotton bras you own?I cringed internally. They were both unpretty and ineffective in actually covering stuff up when you most needed it. And the sports bras? Yeah, not quite the image you’d like to plant on any man’s brain.

“Isn’t there anything else?”

Glen shook her head solemnly. “Nope. This shop only sells these, I’m afraid.”

I snorted, despite myself. “What a lousy business plan.”

“So are you getting it?”

I chewed on my lower lip and checked my reflection in the mirror. Even uncertain as hell and more awkward than ever, I looked... well, sexy. My curls fell a little lower than my shoulders, stopping just before the several lines of straps began, doing absolutely nothing to hide my perked nipples. He wouldn’t be able to look away. It might even distract him from the few folds on my stomach.

“I don’t know,” I mumbled.

“Come on! If you won’t buy it, I will.”

“And what? Wear it to bed.”

“For you, dummy. I’d buy it for you.”

I shook my head no. “You are not supposed to spend any money, remember?”

“You’ll leave me with no other choice. It’s a matter of life and death.”

“It definitely isn’t.”

“For you maybe.” Glen had her arms crossed in front of her and lips set in the most stubborn pout anyone has ever seen. “For me, it is.”

“Let me get this straight. It is a matter of life and death for you if I have sex in sexy underwear or not?”

“Yes!” she insisted. “Very important.”
