Her lips curved. “As in ‘ruin’ me?”
“No, but I can promise you’ll leave my companyextremelyrelaxed.”
Thea’s breath caught. Those were the words he’d used just before he’d provided her with two orgasms on her kitchen counter. Well, if knicker-melting bliss was Felix’s version of spoiling, she was all in.
“Define extremely.”
The pressure of Felix’s hand increased, but before he could reply, the phone on his desk rang. He closed his eyes and gave her hand a gentle squeeze before letting go and reaching behind him to press something on his desk.
“Yes?”
“I’m just reminding you about your lunch reservation. Then you have your two thirty with Crichton Investment.”
Gemma’s voice rang out in the still of his office. Thea hadn’t noticed how quiet it was before. She’d not been able to hear anything over the hammering of her heart.
Felix sucked in his top lip, then mouthed the word “sorry” to Thea.
“And do you have the paperwork ready? I need Chrichton locked, loaded and ready to sign after we wow them tonight.”
He shifted off the desk and stood to walk around its other side, taking a seat and tapping on his laptop to bring it to life. Without waiting for Gemma to reply, he scrolled through a document already on his screen. His jaw locked tight, and a muscle pulsed in his cheek. Felix’s brow furrowed as he read.
“There’s just the matter of clause 48.2. The completion schedule,” said Gemma.
“I see it,” Felix ground out with a sigh. “I think we can work on them tonight. Improve the timeline a little, from our perspective.”
“Yes,” said Gemma. “I’ll gather the team, ready for you to talk tactics before the meeting.”
Thea swallowed, but the focus and the grim determination etched on Felix's face had her throat running dry. He was in his element. He was the boss. Everyone here deferred to him. He was important and surrounded by people who wanted to please him. Keep him happy. Would she fall into his ranks of pliant subjects? Become his “yes” woman?
Seeing Felix like this, all in command and stern, was sexy. Weird, but very, very sexy. What came across as abrasive in the countryside worked for him here. But it was hard to equate the man before her to the one who had an icepack wedged down his trousers only a week ago. At the thought, she snorted a laugh.
Felix looked up and pressed a button on the phone, disconnecting the call. “What?” He tipped his head to one side.
“I was wondering when the relaxing would start?”

FELIX
Felix studied Thea as she scanned the menu, her blonde eyelashes fluttering as she read. A warmth settled in his chest. He’d missed her. Missed the furrow between her brows when she concentrated. Missed the cheeky glow in her eyes when she teased him and even the continuous pulling of the damn scrunchie around her wrist. She’d bitten her fingernails to the quick since he’d last seen her. Surely the thought of a night with him couldn’t be that scary?
Felix let out a little huff. He’d spent his entire week planning what they would do when she was here, and a quick lunch between meetings hadn’t been on the list. He’d wanted to spend the afternoon in bed, fulfilling his promise to spoil her, not negotiating building contracts with a room full of businessmen. This weekend was his chance to show her his world, his passion. And he’d only seen her for thirty minutes so far.
He motioned to the hovering waiter to refill their wine. The sound of the liquid tumbling into the glass interrupted Thea’s reading.
She looked up, a hint of a smile on her lips. “No sausagerolls on the menu? I expected only the best from you, Felix. I’m a little disappointed. You promised to spoil me.”
He chuckled. “I can always have the chef rustle one up for you. Or perhaps you’d prefer I order in from the local café. The one down the road does good bangers and mash.”
The grin that lit her face had his worries dissolving. She’d been a little quiet on the lift ride down, and her eyes constantly danced around the restaurant. If he didn’t know better, he’d think she regretted agreeing to come. The thought set his teeth on edge.
“Are you saying I’m a banger and mash kind of girl?” she asked, taking a sip from her glass.
“Hardly, but I wouldn’t have a problem if you looked kindly on banging.” Thea giggled, shaking her head. Damn, he was acting like a teenager.
“I have to say, I didn’t expect you to give me my own hotel room.” She looked at him from under her lashes, drawing circles with one finger on her glass. “I hoped I could bunk in with you.”
Felix sighed and ran his hand over the starched white tablecloth, straightening his fork. “I know. But I didn’t want to assume anything. What if you’d had bidder’s remorse?”
