“Mummy!” a voice called out from the terrace doors. They both turned to see Ammy flying towards them, wand in hand and a pair of sparkly fairy wings attached to her back. “I’ve been looking for you everywhere. I wanted to show you these.” She pointed to the gauzy wings. “Daniel got them for me.”
Thea grinned and crouched down to meet her daughter’s height. “And they look lovely, darling. Who are you with? Don’t tell me you gave Kitty the slip?” Thea looked over Ammy’s shoulder towards the hotel.
“No, I’m with Joshie. He went to get something blue at the bar. Amber forgot to bring something of her own.”
Felix scoffed. Josh would likely be after Curacao liqueur. He was about to offer to get Ammy a lemonade, but the little girl’s eyes fixed on him. On his crotch. Thea noticed the same because she waved a hand in front of her daughter’s face, eyebrows drawn together. Then, her gaze followed Ammy’s, landing squarely on his package.
Felix stepped back, the top of his buttocks hitting the hard marble balustrade behind him. “What?”
“Don’t move,” Thea said in a quiet voice.
Felix glanced down at his trousers, sending a prayer ofthanks to St. Hobonomus, the patron saint of tailors, that he hadn’t left his zipper at half-mast this morning. Instead, a plump, fluffy bumblebee sat atop his manhood. It casually cleaned its wings and had scattered yellow spots of pollen on his silk blend trousers.
“It’s a bee!” Ammy exclaimed, jumping up and down in delight. “He’s trying to make a home on you.”
Felix’s eyes flew open. He didn’t know if a bee had ever stung him before, but he didn’t want today to be the day he found out he was allergic. He couldn’t bear the thought of dying before he got to touch Thea’s boob again. Or any part of her.
“Don’t worry. Bumble bees don’t sting,” said Ammy, waving her wand in the general direction of his groin. “I’ll get rid of it. Hold still.”
Ammy waved her sparkly wand in random circles around his hips like she was casting a spell. In genuine fear for his safety, Felix lowered his hands to defend himself. As his fingers reached his trousers, a searing pain shot through his testicles, and he opened his mouth to let out a line of expletives.
“Fu…..”
Thea’s eyes widened, then flew to Ammy, standing gaping at Felix, hands over her mouth. Damn, he’d have to stick to PG content.
“…nnily enough–they do sting,” he rasped out, doubled over in pain for the second time since he’d met Thea.
“Holy hell! Are you okay? Did the bee get you?”
Felix nodded, rolling his lips to keep from screaming. He’d never known pain like it. Like somebody had blowtorched his nuts.
Thea gripped Ammy’s shoulder. “Find Josh. He’s almost a doctor. He’ll know what to do.” Ammy nodded solemnly and slipped away towards the hotel bar. “What can I do to help?”Thea asked, rubbing his back. “I remember hearing that if you leave the sting in, it can be much worse.”
Felix nodded again, biting back the searing burn in his testicles.
“I’ll have a look. See if I can spot it.”
“No,” he puffed. “Give me a second. I’ll be okay.”
“But your face is bright pink. What if you’re going into shock? I don’t want you fainting in the middle of the terrace. You can’t just drop your trousers in the middle of a wedding party. Be reasonable, Felix. Let me help.”
He sucked in a breath, waiting for the heat under his skin to subside. He really needed some sort of help. His legs were shaky, and he was sweating. “Okay, but make it quick.”
Thea sucked in a breath as if she was going free diving, then dropped to her knees. By now, they’d attracted a few spectators, and it was all he could do to squeeze out a tight smile. Hopefully, people thought she’d dropped a contact lens on the floor instead of attempting to find a bee stinger embedded in his nut sack.
“I think I see it,” she said, grabbing the back of one of his thighs and bringing her face closer. “It’s quite small. It’s a shame it’s not bigger. It would be easier to take out. I might have to find some tweezers. Hang on.” Thea went quiet, squinting at his manhood. Felix held a breath. It was ironic that the first time she was going to touch anything in that region, he wouldn’t be able to feel it.
“Got it!” A grin crept over her lips as she stared up at him.
“I’m seeing a bit of a pattern here. Should I be concerned?”
Felix’s head snapped up to see Josh.
“Oh, Josh! No, no, absolutely not!” Thea scrambled to her feet. “A bee just stung Felix, that’s all.”
Josh’s eyebrows shot up. “Dare I ask where?”
He pointed to his groin, taking deep breaths. Felix looked up at Thea’s extremely tall, remarkably strapping brother anddied a little inside at the amusement in his eyes. He probably thought this was hilarious. That Felix had got his just desserts for his behaviour last year.
