“Long story short, I got the part and I’m going to star in one of the best movies of the year,” I finish and Alan makes an outraged face.

“Well, we’ll see about that. I have a couple of projects that are pretty good and a budget bigger than yours,” he challenges. He’s known for not wanting to lose, ever.

“Sure, you have a big studio that supports you. But do you have an Oscar-worthy movie to produce?” Sienna smirks, raising her brow, challenging him to step up the game.

She’s so convincing that Alan smiles and turns his body toward her. He’s captured. She has his attention and I’m happy for her. He’s one of those people that could make her career take off.

“Well, you’re pretty confident about what you have in your hands.”

“Because Iamsure this is an award-winning movie. I’m not bullshitting around like a rookie. I have ten years of experience as a director and I know when I have a good script in my hands, or an Oscar-worthy one.” She smiles at him and he chuckles.

He grabs his phone and gives it to her. “Put your number in here, I may have something to discuss with you.”

Sienna’s hand is firm when she grabs his phone, but I know she is about to snap from the tension because her shoulders stiffen. She’s not one to give away her feelings, but I’ve learned that when she stiffens her shoulders, she’s a step away from freaking out. It’s time for me to take her away from him.

“Sorry to interrupt this lovely conversation, but I have to steal your director here and drag her to meet Aaron, or he’ll kill me,” I say to Alan grabbing Sienna’s elbow delicately.

“Damn, that bastard always has the best at his side. Don’t let her sign an exclusive contract with him or I will personally kick your ass,” the man says, pointing a finger at me and winking at Sienna.

I laugh while I pull her stiff body away. When we reach the bar, she lets out a shaky breath.

“Thank you. I was going to freak out any minute,” she says as I wave down the bartender.

We order a Cosmo for her and a soda for me. I take my time while the guy prepares our orders to take her in. She’s gorgeous in this green dress that hugs her in all the right places.

“I know, this is why I dragged you away.” I wink leaning on the counter.

“Where’s Aaron?” She looks around.

“At home, I think. It was an excuse to end the conversation.” I sip my soda when the guy puts it in front of me.

She smiles shyly. “Thank you. I can’t believe Alan Leery asked for my number. He’s like the God of producers.”

I chuckle. “See? It wasn’t so bad. After two hours of networking you have the number of at least three important people. Oh, don’t answer if Cain calls you. He’s known for asking girls to suck his cock.”

She grimaces. “Thank you for the tip. He gave me creepy vibes. He looks like an old dude lurking around high schools.”

“He is.” I nod.

I look around at the almost hundred people crowding this place. They’re dancing, sweating, grinding way too inappropriately for a public place. I’m sure I got a glimpse of a bare ass in there.

“Do you want to step out for a minute to breathe some fresh air? It’s suffocating in here,” I ask Sienna and she nods, appreciating my suggestion.

We reach a part of the garden hidden by low trees and I peek around the corner to avoid walking in on someone having sex out here. Considering the tone of this party, I wouldn’t be surprised.

“What are you doing?” Sienna asks before I drag her around the hedge.

“Making sure there isn’t someone fucking out here.”

“Out in the open?” she asks incredulously.

I raise a brow. “This is Hollywood. Normal decency doesn’t apply here.”

“Go figure.” She snorts.

I take in the spectacle of the lights of the city, the downtown skyline reaching high in the middle of the sea of lights.

“It’s beautiful out here,” she murmurs, taking in the view.
