The pilot. Despite finding it not too far from where Tyler’s victims had been buried, Alexis hadn’t really expected the bone fragment to be significant.

But it was.

“Are you okay?” Griff asked in a low voice as the rest of the family began to debate what may have happened that fateful day.

“Yes, but it’s a shock.” She leaned against Griff. “We’ll have to take Denali back up to that area soon. There could be more remains up there.”

“Okay with me.” Griff pressed a kiss to her temple. “But don’t make me wait too long to marry you. I finally got my boss to agree that I can work remotely. That means I can live here with you once we tie the knot.”

She brightened. “That’s wonderful news!”

“Yeah.” He grinned down at her. “I love you, Alexis.”

“I love you too.” She kissed him again and pushed the mystery surrounding their parents’ plane crash from her mind.

Life was short and not to be taken for granted. Tyler had come close to killing her, she wasn’t going to wait to marry Griff. She would cherish each day they had together.

The love they shared was a gift from God.
