The sound that filled her ears from his lips, his chest, his soul. He sank his fingers into her hair as she enjoyed the salty taste of his pleasure, milking more with each pump of her mouth, each swirl of her tongue. She listened to his responses when she took him deep, applied a little more suction, hummed her own delight.

“Rori,easy.”

His fingers tightened against her scalp, lifting her away and pulling her up to him. He damn near panted, his gaze roving over her face for precious seconds.

“Sly vixen.”

Thaddeus flipped her onto her back and tucked her beneath him. He climbed over her, spread her legs wide with his powerful thighs, cupped the back of her head, and pulled her up for a crushing kiss as he filled her body straight to the hilt. She clung to him, desperate to bring him deeper. The fervent heat he’d built with his mouth blossomed ten-fold,rushing her, pooling within her core, sparking along her nerves.

Rori tore her mouth away as white heat coiled tighter and tighter. Thaddeus ravaged her neck with desperate kisses while soft mewls came from her, faster and faster, until, at last, the coil snapped. Blinding light exploded behind her eyelids, pure, unhindered pleasure stole her conscious mind. Euphoric bliss carried her high, shattering her entire world.

Within the muffled hum of her climax, she heard Thaddeus’s roar. Warmth filled her in strong pulses as she descended from her heavenly peak, sapped of strength.

Thaddeus lowered to her side and drew her close, tucked securely in his embrace. For a long while, they lay entangled together, listening to the soothing sounds of rapid heartbeats and labored breaths in perfect tandem. The rush of pleasure gave way to the reaffirming golden light within her chest. The bond that entwined with the Faery man beside her, glowing bright and alive.

Now more than ever, she was determined to find a way to save her soul mate and keep that precious bond from being severed.

“Moghráálainn.” The whispered words coaxed her to open her eyes. Thaddeus watched her through heavy-lidded eyes obscured by wayward locks of hair. His palm rested against her cheek, his thumb caressed back and forth over the bone. “My Goddess-blessed gift.”

“Promise me you won’t push me away again,” she murmured, fatigue lending a husk to her voice. She reached up and rested her hand over his. Warm metal pressed to her wrist, piquing her sudden curiosity.

“As long as you’re safe, you’ve my promise.”

Rori lifted her head from his arm as she studied the new gold band around his wrist, her brow creasing. “What’s this? You didn’t have it before.”

Thaddeus turned his hand over, observing the band. “I believe you have a saying in the mortal world. Insurance policy?” He adjusted his arm beneath her head, pressing onto his forearm. His tender caress resumed as he hovered over her. “’Tis Shaye’s way to protect hisfamily from any possible attack I might have considered launching. These bind my power except for the use of safe, weak magic.”

“How do they come off?”

“Shaye placed them. Shaye removes them.”

Rori reached up to his beautiful face, tracing the slant of his brow. The sharp angle of his cheek. The shell of his ear to the point. She refused to think of a time when he would be taken from her. A world without Thaddeus was a world not worth living in.

“What language do I hear you speak?”

“Gaelic. ’Tis the primary language of Fae. Dialects differ, as they do in the mortal world, depending on the age of the Fae, the realm in which they reside, and preference.”

She twisted a lock of his silky hair, soaking in the softness as it pooled over her breasts and around her shoulders. Her heart sputtered, a frequent occurrence with Thaddeus near.

“You call me things, but I’ve no idea what you mean.”

A smile, one of the first full, sincere smiles, stretched across his mouth. It lit his eyes with a new light, melting the ice and warming the gold flecks that occasionally appeared, as they did now.

“Let’s see, shall we?” He climbed over her, cupping her face between his hands. Leaning over to feather kisses to her right brow, he murmured, “Storín. Stubborn woman.”

“Infuriating.” She pushed at his chest, but he continued feathering kisses over her face. “And I’ve been told by many that Fae don’t lie.”

Thaddeus chuckled, his soft breaths a heart-warming caress. “I cannot lie. Never did I say one word meant the other. I stated two separate items without connecting them.”

Rori huffed as he lifted up high enough to gaze down at her. The humor that glittered in his eyes resembled a child’s joy. Herheart tugged as she wondered whether Thaddeus had known true joy or if it was a distant memory. But he experienced it with her now, and that alone made her fall for him more.

He tapped the tip of her nose with a finger. “Little human, I expect more from you.”

“Shaye warned me you have a gilded tongue.”

His smile grew, mischief shadowing his expression and smoldering in his eyes. He lowered himself between the cradle of her legs, dipping his head and slanting his mouth above hers. So close she could taste him.
