That voice sat in front of Its brother's cage to tell him stories a long time ago. In that hell. They always listened. Not just Its brother...all of them.
That voice had been too soothing. Too Angelic...if angels existed.
It still is.
Tonight, that voice came with a story that drew It in. The story made this chaotic mind hurt.
The story that made this chaotic mind bleed.
When Nalaila opened her eyes, Ismena stopped breathing for a few seconds. Quickly, she wiped the tears from her eyes, just to see clearly.
The wolf uncurled its body and rose to its full height. It put a paw in front of another and another and another until it stood at the very front of the bars that separated them.
Ismena held her breath. The first thought that popped into her mind was; that amber eyes looks so much like his. Like Wolfariane’s.
For a moment, she had no idea what she was expecting. What was going to happen.
Will she roar in rage at her because she's human?
Will she break through the bars and eat her alive?
But, Ismena didn't run. She forced herself not to.
Instead, she just stood and looked carefully.
They watched each other, quietly. Silently.
Wolfaraine and his Alphas spent hours scouting around the area the Wild Psycho had attacked in.
They extended their search, combing the entire area. But they were still unable to come up with anything, not even a scent. They'd sniffed the corpse of the victims and their belongings which the killer might have touched while carrying out the crime. Yet, they got nothing.
It was frustrating. It was excruciating. It was tormenting.
Finally, when it was really obvious that they were getting nowhere with the search, he gave the order for them to wrap things up.
They did so.
Afterward, the Alphas took the bodies of the dead out and buried them.
It was well after midnight by the night they headed back to the manor house of the Elephant Alpha. They all lowered themselves to whatever seats they could find. A few sat on the floor, while some even sat at a table.
No one was looking for comfortability when there has been a brutal murder not just of a person but a whole family of six. There was silence filled with mourning and no one bothered to break it.
Unlike when they come together for a meeting in the Meeting Hall of the Tower, no one was attempting to make jokes.
Head Sentinel Rodarh walked torpidly towards the firepit and made a fire for them to keep warm.
"We continue this investigation tomorrow." Wolfaraine declared at last, "Everyone should get some rest. We are no good to this case if our senses are dull from lack of rest."
That said, he walked past them towards the other door that leads to the balcony. Outside, he closed the door behind him. Resting his hands on the rails, he stared out at nothing but darkness.
His head was pounding—has been pounding for the past few days too. But, it had gotten worse. He was so tired, that he could feel it in his bones.
But, he was too restless to sleep. His heart was in a rage after seeing those corpses. In pain.
So much on his mind, he doubted if he would ever get a peaceful sleep when he decides to lie down and close his eyes. He highly doubted that.
"You should try and sleep too, Alpha King. I can practically feel the restlessness of the King Wolf." The deep, familiar voice of Adanel came up from behind him.
