“I think pops did all this shit,” I said once Blessyn made it in the house.
Perc put his phone down and looked at me crazy. “The nigga off but he doesn’t have the damn heart. You know how manytimes this nigga got his ass slapped by mama and didn’t do shit. Not mention that one time he tried to fight that nigga from South Carolina ‘bout his bread and got his ass whooped until we rode our bikes down the street to help him. Nah, this nigga ain’t do this.”
“Oh, he did it. That’s what he wants us to think. He wants us to think he too weak and that’s why he can keep coming at us.”
“I don’t believe this shit. You still on them pain pills nigga?”
“Nope, I’m thinking clear as shit right now.”
“Get the fuck outta my car with that. Go lay down or some shit.”
“Be careful and answer the phone when I goddamn call you. I’m already at your mercy when it comes to moving around the city.”
“Yeah.”
Blessyn was lying across the bed crying when I walked in the room. Today wasn’t easy for her and the fact she didn’t have her sister didn’t make it better. I fucked up when I jumped down her throat about my pops showing up. All this shit was annoying and it was fucking with everybody mentally. Yet, I had to be the one to stay strong when it was days I wanted to break down too.
“Baby, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to come at you like that but something off about him and I don’t want you to get hurt.” She didn’t respond so I kept talking. “I know you worried about a lot of shit like your sister and shit. Hell, we worried too.”
“Why ain’t nobody doing anything then?” She looked up at me with bloodshot eyes.
“I’m…I’m trying to but it’s only so much I can do right now. If you think of something, shit tell me.”
“All the money you got, you can’t find someone to at least investigate the shit so we can know where she is? I know you have resources. You know people in high places.”
My mind was clouded but she was right. I knew a few people I could use to at least find out where her phone and shit was at. The only thing that made me afraid to go that far was Perc. If he knew where she was, he was going to find her because he loved her that much. I didn’t blame him because I would do the same thing for Blessyn.
“Aight, I can do that.”
I pulled my phone out and got to work.
Two weeks after my brother had Merci’s phone located. I was on my way to the airport. Her phone was no longer on but her last location was all I needed. Someone knew something or seen her. She was gone way too long and muthafuckas were sitting around swirling their thumbs.
“Perc, you can’t do this shit alone. Let me send Boogie with you or take someone with you.”
“I’m good. Make sure my baby is taken care of while I’m gone. I’ll be back and hopefully I’ll be back with Merci.”
“Jaydee is the nigga name she was with.”
“Jaydee?” I searched through my phone and scrolled until I reached Jaydee’s number. “You got a picture of this nigga?” Trying to make sure I wasn’t wrong.
“Yeah, my people found a picture of him. His real name is Jamie Davis.”
I bit down on my bottom lip. “I’m about to head out.”
“Call me as soon as you touch down.”
Lucky hugged me and walked back into the house. It was good to see him back walking. He was limping but he didn’t need the support he once had. Before pulling away from the house, I dialed Jaydee's number. The nigga was just in my face yesterday and didn’t flinch or anything as he asked me about Merci.
“Perc, what’s good my nigga?” He said into the phone.
“Nothing I’m ‘bout to pull up on you. Where you at?”
“Umm, shit I’m doing something right now but I’ll hit you up when I’m done.”
“Oh yeah? Hit me up then so we can link. I wanna run some shit by you ‘bout this lil’ business I think we could do together.”
“Bet.”
