“We understand but this is an open investigation, and we need her to understand that if she doesn’t come down, we’ll have to take her on as a suspect.”
“Get out of my house. I would never hurt the people I love. It’s been three goddamn years, and you go off a fucking tip a bitch gave you. Then stand here while I’m feeding my son and tell me I’m a goddamn suspect. Do whatever you wanna do but I’ll be damn if I come down and freely talk to y’all about shit. I buried both of them three years ago without any fucking family’s help. Tell them to kiss my ass too.”
As soon as they walked out the door and my mama locked it. I handed her my son and rushed up to my room to grab my phone. Lucky was usually up by now and all I need was for him to answer the phone.
“Yo.”
“I don’t know what you need to do but you need to disappear for a minute.”
She was talking in circles which was making me nervous. I was too busy building my business and trying to get Perc out of jail to be focusing on anything else. Blessyn was rambling and it wasn’t making any sense, so I cut her off.
“I’m on my way over there,” I told her.
“No! They may be watching or some shit. I’ll meet you. Just send me your address so we can really talk about this in person.”
“Aight. I’mma ‘bout to send it to you now.”
I had several places around the city that I laid my head. Since having my niece, I decided to move into my house that was away from the city but when she was with Merci I stayed in my condo in the city. It was my bachelor pad that I would bring a few hoes to back in the day. That’s where I was today and I wasn’t sure that Blessyn was going to like the set up. It smelled like weed andyou could tell this is where shit went down at. I hadn’t brought nobody here since I got serious with Blessyn, but I knew how her mind was going to wonder as soon as she walked in the door.
It took her an hour to get to me. She was shaking and could barely sit still. Whatever the fuck was going on had her scared almost worse than when them niggas robbed her. I got her something to drink and waited for her to calm down before I asked her what was wrong.
“The police came to my house asking about Khi. His fucking family went and told them that I know who killed him. What if they know you did this shit? Do you know what that makes me look like?”
“First of all, calm down. I covered all damn bases when it came down to that murder. I’m not new to this shit. This is Atlanta and muthafuckas talk. Everybody knew we had beef just like everyone knows you’re my wife. No one knows that we’re divorced now. They just going off of what the streets saying. Don’t stress this shit.”
“They said they will take me in as a suspect if I don’t come in for questioning.”
“Bullshit! Don’t let them muthafuckas fool you. Just in case you get scary on me, I’ll have my lawyer on standby for you. Don’t speak shit you don’t know ‘bout. This is why I keep you out my damn business. I’m sorry this shit had to happen but the only person that was supposed to die that day was me or Khi and it ended up being him. He played a big boy game and got himself fucked up. I understand the family wants justice, but I think it’s time to show them who Khi really was. Once I do that, they’ll leave this shit alone. Now it’s ‘bout to get grimy and I advise you to stay your ass off the news and shit for a minute if you don’t want to know the real truth behind your nigga.”
“Don’t do that. Khi is not my nigga. I wouldn’t be here if he was.”
“All this time you been on my ass ‘bout him and now he ain’t your nigga. I’mma tell ya ass something now, everything you ever wanted to know ‘bout that nigga is finna hit you dead in the face. Then and only then will you realize I was the realist nigga on your team. Go home, take care of my son and don’t worry ‘bout none of this. It will be gone before it even gets started.”
I pulled her to me and hugged her for the first time and kissed her on her forehead. She thought that nigga was team her, but that nigga was in more shit than a little bit and since his family was trying to fuck with what belonged to me, it was time for me to show them I wasn’t nothing to be played with. I knew people in high place that could make shit appear or disappear.
“You have girls over here? I thought you said you wasn’t fucking with nobody,” Blessyn looked around.
“What are you talkin’ ‘bout?”
“It’s a female brush with hair in it on your counter.”
“That shit probably been there. I don’t live here, I been with you.”
“Get off me. Here I am trying to save your fucking life and you living your best life over here with bitches. Do whatever you wanna do because I’m for sure done now.”
“Man, you not finna leave me like that. I told you I haven’t been here. This is where I come to smoke and shit. Before I met you, I fucked bitches out of this condo so they wouldn’t know where I laid my head. Is that a problem?”
“It doesn’t matter anyway. Your single just don’t invite me to a place you know you sleep with hoes at.”
“Ain’t nobody been here. Chill the fuck out.” I pulled her back into me. If she wasn’t still healing, I would try to fuck her right on the spot.
“Let me go. I need to get home to my son.”
“Our son. I never said thank you. So, thank you for blessing me with our son. I planned to get you a nice ass push gift but you pissed me off during the delivery process.”
“You’ve done enough. Can you let me go so I can get home?”
“I still love you, you do know that right?”
