Fated mates.
When you’re a kid, you often fantasize about finding your one true mate, your fated. They were your mate, but the bond was supposed to be stronger and unchanging, and you couldn’t fight the pull you had on each other, an instant attraction that neither could fight. I looked up at that moment to see Aidyn walking toward me, flower still in his hair, a smile on his face as our eyes met. But fated mates were fiction, right? No way something like that existed. Right?
“Find something?” Aidyn asked, reaching out to me.
I realized then that even if it were fiction, it explained my pull toward Aidyn. Why I had been feeling the way I did. I may not be his fated mate, but he was mine. I looked for him first in a crowded room before giving it my attention, sought out his touch often because it calmed me, and I loved the feeling of his body against mine. Maybe that was why I could scent his pheromones, despite the neutralizers, but not that of otherOmegas. I wasn’t broken; I was waiting for my one. He is my mate, and I have to hope I am his. The second I thought about it, it felt like the last puzzle piece had been slotted into place.
“Yea, did you?” I smiled at him, sliding my hand into his, and moved toward the register. He showed me the cover of a rather thick volume with a tall stone tower and an elf and human standing at its base.
“Apparently, they have to save the world from a high-elf wizard who believes that humans are less than the bugs beneath their feet. The human on the cover displays magic, but mages died out eons ago, and this elf is sent to kill him but can’t for reasons he doesn’t understand.”
When Aidyn talks about something that excites him or interests him, his eyes change to a bright meadow green, and I love that elated expression, how bubbly he gets. It’s addicting. I showed him the cover of the book I grabbed for him, and he snatched it from me instantly, practically bouncing on his toes in excitement, explaining that this had been on his ‘TBR’ pile for a while. I wasn’t even aware that the book community had its own set of acronym code words until he explained that it's a short way to say ‘to be read’, and that it is simply never-ending for voracious readers like him. I wondered briefly if getting him an e-reader in the future would be a smart investment. We made our way up to the front counter, greeting the sales associate kindly, where Aidyn refused to hand me the book he picked out for me, stating that there was no way in hell he would let me buy my own gift. All I could do was laugh at him until the sales associate stared at her computer dumbfounded.
“Sir, you have roughly $80 in rewards, but you can only use $35, did you—”
“No, I’m saving it, but thank you!’ Aidyn said, blushing when he caught my eye. “I read, sue me.”
“Saving them for what, though?” I asked, dumbfounded.
“Sometimes I use them for textbooks, but honestly, I enjoy gifting books at Christmas, and that’s when I use the points.”
I was flabbergasted and also kind of in awe of him as we exchanged books before getting in the car. For someone who reads as much as he did, I couldn’t imagine the level of self-restraint not to use the discount for books. His eyes held such excitement as he flipped through the pages, listening to the soft shuffle they made as they flipped into place. His happiness was so visible that it warmed me from the inside. But then reality crashed into me as I realized the night was over. I had an idea of one more place to take him, but then what? I couldn’t keep him with me the whole night, and I was worried that proposing that he come to my place would be too much.
“What’s the matter?” His voice dragged me from my thoughts.
“If I’m honest, I don’t want tonight to end, and I don’t want to take you back to your apartment.”
“Who said you had to take me to my home?”
Luke
Pinning Aidyn against the foyer wall, I pressed my body against his, slipping my tongue into his mouth. He moaned in greeting, looping his fingers through the belt loops on the front of my jeans, pulling my body closer against him. Aidyn had pushed himself against me, stepping on his tiptoes to kiss me on the elevator ride up to my condo apartment, and the kiss had become laced with need by the time the doors opened onto my floor. He winked at me, pulling away, slowly releasing my hand.
“I’ve always wanted to make out in an elevator,” he teased.
Smirking at him, I loved the fact that he had no issues making demands of me, teasing me, or being the first one to make amove. He was clear about his desires and needs, and with the pass in the elevator, it was very clear what would happen the second we stepped into my apartment. Thank God I grabbed the box of condoms from the back of the car when we got out.
No sooner had we stepped into the foyer of my apartment did I have my lips on Aidyn again. I kissed him like a dying man, desperate for an oasis in the desert. He released more of his pheromones, his forest scent mixing with the damp rain of his arousal, and I couldn’t wait to sink into him. But he needed to know something important about me first before this became really embarrassing. I pulled away from him, my forehead pressing against his, and he panted from our connection, his green eyes watching me.
“Before we go any further and I embarrass myself, I need to tell you something.” I breathed, soaking in his scent. “I haven’t had sex in about two years.”
Aidyn’s eyes grew wide as he looked at me. “Two years, are you serious? My Omega practically served himself to you on a silver platter two weeks ago, and you hadn’t had sex in two years?’
“An Omega in heat can't give adequate consent. I would be lying if I said I didn’t take care of myself later, though.” I grinned sheepishly.
Aidyn took my face in his hands, leaning forward to kiss me tenderly before smiling at me. “You have my full consent, my overly patient Alpha.”
Picking him up was effortless, and he wrapped his arms and legs around my body, his ass seated on my hard length. I couldn’t help but rub against him, which made him moan into my neck, his tongue flicking over my collarbone, causing me to shudder.
“I wanted to explain in case everything was over too quickly. I’ve…I’ve also never knotted anyone. As a dominant –”
“It can be on the larger side; I’ve felt it against me. I’m not worried. If things are over too quickly, we’ll rest, and then we’ll go again.”
He nuzzled my neck, surrounding me with his scent, and I breathed a sigh of relief. I thanked whatever God was in heaven that this Omega was brought to me. I carried him through my apartment to the bedroom, lowering him to the bed before pulling my sweater over my head and draping my body over his. Aidyn had already removed his glasses, setting them on my nightstand before he had taken the opportunity to pull off his own shirts and now lay beneath me, bare-chested and beautiful. His skin was pale like cream with a sprinkling of fair hair that dusted across his chest and ended in a small trail that disappeared into the waistband of his pants.
A smile quirked on my lips as I saw the silver bar pierced through his left nipple, and I ran a thumb over the nipple; his body shuddering under me. To find that he had a piercing was a surprise. Aidyn didn’t really give off the vibe that he would be covered in tattoos and piercings, and I couldn’t help but lean down, running my tongue over the metal and the raised flesh. He moaned softly, his back arching as I wrapped my mouth around the bar, flicking my tongue across it once more.
“Rumor has it, the pierced nipple is more sensitive than the other,” I murmured, moving to the neglected right one, running my tongue across it before biting the nub. “Is that true?”
