Page 13 of Generation Omega: Revealed
After a few more pics, Ethan steps away to reclaim his phone. Mentally, I know I should follow him, but I suddenly can’t move, like my feet are rooted into the ground, permanently fixed there like I’ve always been here and here is where I belong.
Gideon remains exactly where he is, his arm still around me. “It was nice to meet you.” His words are stilted and his expression confused as though he’s not sure how to escape this strange moment.
My heart decides to join our odd, unmoving dance, pounding and pulsing and generally acting the fool for Gideon Blake.
Ethan turns to me, not seeming concerned at all that I’m locked in place with his favorite action star. He glances at the line of people still waiting for their turn with Gideon Blake and then extends his hand to me. I swear Gideon’s hold on me tenses at the sight of Ethan’s outstretched hand.
Ethan simply grins at us and then holds up his phone to take another picture, this one just Gideon Blake and me. “That rescheduled lecture is starting soon. Should we go?”
I flinch. “Yes, we should go.” I turn and look up at Gideon Blake as his arm finally releases me. I sway toward him, his intensity pulling me like gravity. “We’re both big fans. Thanks for being here and for saying yes to an omegaverse movie.” I gesture at the massive hall. “I know it’s a lot, but it’s awesome that you’re here.”
Gideon seems lost and I know others are clamoring for their chance with him, but he doesn’t seem to notice them. He offers his hand to me, and I shake hands with Gideon freaking Blake.
“I’m Gideon.”
“I’m Tillie, and this is Ethan.”
He seems to struggle to look at Ethan, but he manages, and then his gaze is on me like I’m all he can see. “It’s good to meet you, Tillie.”
The fluttering in my heart is like a bird caught in a tornado. “It’s good to meet you too.”
He grimaces and then releases me. “Enjoy the rest of the convention.”
“You too!”
Ethan tugs me away, wrapping his arm around me as we walk toward the auditorium. “Gideon Blake thinks my girlfriend is hot.”
“No, that’s not…”
“Totally was and I still love the guy, so that’s cool.”
I crane my neck to look up at him, while we continue walking. “You aren’t jealous?”
“Of Gideon Blake being into you? No, I don’t think I am.” He’s fighting a laugh. “Be honest. Did you almost invite him back to yourbirthday present?”
My face turns beet red and words aren’t necessary to prove my guilt.
Ethan snorts. “Why choosewhen you can have both, right? I feel like we need a list of people we can invite over if we ever meet them, like on that old TV show. Clearly, Gideon’s on your list and I’m pretty sure you are on his.”
Still blushing brightly, I mutter, “That did not just happen.”
“It did and we’ve got the pics to prove it, a dozen of them at least. Now, come on. I don’t want to miss this crucial, life-changing omega lecture.”
“You’re sounding like a true omegee.”
“Babe, I’m in this now. Forever.”
CHAPTER7
GIDEON
You’re fired. You’re the worst agent-sister I’ve ever had. Absolute worst. Zero stars. Complete hack. Pack your things and get out.
I stare at my phone, awaiting the predictably amusing response from my sassy-as-hell agent-sister. She doesn’t make me wait long.
A. You can’t fire me from being your sister, asshat.
B. You can’t fire me from being your agent, because I’ll tell mom.
