Page 107 of Generation Omega: Revealed

My heart pulls me toward the beach, the boat, the waves, and the alpha who bonded Ethan. I know if we can just reach Ethan, I’ll be okay. I can do this, embrace everything that comes next for my pack and me.

“Please, Thatcher,” I whisper, “come with us. Be our pack. Trust us. Trust the omega legacy. We’ve gotten this far. It’s only day two, but still, we’re here.”

Gideon’s amused as he stares at the bundle of blankets that occasionally shares its two cents.

“Yes, Tillie, I’ll come. We have the blankets—we stole them all and more. We’ll take care of you.”

“To answer your other question, Mr. Blake,” Sage says tightly. “Mygagglewill provide cover for your actual exit. The helicopter that brought us here was only on the ground for a minute and has made a dozen other stops—no one knows we’re here. Having you leave now is a sound plan, though I wish we could provide more protection. We’ve got two dinghies at the private dock. Thatcher will take one, and you can take Ms. Harrison in the other. Both of them are filled with supplies.”

“Thank you. I appreciate your help, and I’m sure we’ll be in touch in the near future.” To Thatcher, he adds, “Let’s go.”

I hear a muffled goodbye between Thatcher and Sage, and wonder how far back their history goes and what they are to each other. But not enough to ask—not right now. Gideon’s in a heightened state and, with no way to shield from him, my nerves morph from butterflies to swarming wasps. He’s aware of everything around us, every armed mercenary, every building, and Thatcher walking beside us. Gideon’s footsteps are quiet on the path and then a subtle padding sound tells me he’s now on a wooden dock.

“I’ve got you.” Gideon steps into a boat and sets me on a soft surface.

I whimper when he moves away, but I can feel his hand resting on the blanket.

“I’m here, but I need to drive this thing. It won’t be long now and you’ll be with Ethan. But you have to tell me where to go. It’s night out here, and we’re heading into a big ass ocean.” He muses teasingly, “I know it would be helpful if I could track your assassin alpha, but I’m still grateful I’m not linked to him like that.”

“Yeah, lucky me, right?”

Gideon chuckles and starts the motor that isn’t as loud as I thought it would be. The boat lurches forward and my excitement bubbles up as we bounce on the water, up and down in a rocking motion. I’ll see Ethan soon. It’s only been a day, but it feels like forever ago. I’m not completely prepared to see him with the man who came to kill us, but a girl can only worry about a million things at once and my plate is freaking full.

As soon as we’re away from the dock and any spectators, I peek out of my blanket and stare at the darkness, the sparkly night sky, and then the flashing light signaling to us.

“I should have known. Killers always have a plan.” Gideon glances back at me. “It is him, right?”

“It’sthem.”

“Not long now, baby girl, and I will honor my promise.”

He knows what it means to reach Ethan, especially the chance to spend some time with him before my new alphas arrive and biology forces us all onto a roller coaster with no real ending. None of our lives will ever be the same. I wonder who they are, these men who have been chosen to be my alphas and join me in a fight to change the world. Is it wrong to hope for at least one mellow guy to balance out all the angsty vibes I’m getting from my current alphas?

These dudes are seriously fired up, flickering like bug zappers, and the fact that it takes me a few seconds to realize what their deal is, just shows how mentally mushy I am. While I’m a glowy, goofy girl to be back with Ethan, my alphas are preparing for their first in-person alpha collision.Blech—I get that alphasgottaalpha, but this omega wants her beta boyfriend and a break from alpha drama.

“Don’t worry, babe. I know what you need.”

“Do I need to keep you from killing anyone, like with Thatcher?”

Gideon laughs. “Ah, good times. But no, not this time. Everything’s different now. I know my job and my place in your life, and the bondmark—which will need tending soon—means I’ll never forget the big picture. I’ve got this.”

“I know you do.”

I exhale the stress that isn’t mine to carry and consider the burning question that’s about to be answered. What does the future look like for Ethan and me? We both have these new bonds and we’ll never be alone together ever again, not without our alphas in the mix. That means we need to give each other the grace of new introductions and no expectations.

Our love will get us through—nothing could ever convince me otherwise, because nothing will ever erase the horror of leaving Ethan to die alone in that alley. He’s alive and that’s all that matters. Kazimir saved him and, since I would have been lost without him, the assassin saved me too. I won’t forget that.

“Till!” He’s waving at me!

“Ethan!” I’m climbing up, resting my hands on Gideon’s shoulders as he drives the boat closer to the back of the most incredible yacht ever.

Gideon Blake would own a yacht like this. It’s gorgeous, three stories and all sorts of shiny. But Ethan smiling at me is the most stunning sight. As soon as I’m close enough, I leap toward Ethan’s waiting arms, and all hell breaks loose when he catches me.

CHAPTER48

ETHAN

She’s almost here. She’s almost here. Those words play on a loop in my mind, forcing me to realize that part of me thought this would never happen—that I would never see her again. How is that possible? But it’s true. I’m surprised that I’m alive and I’m here, and that she’s in a dinghy racing toward us. I don’t understand my doubts and, as odd as it feels, I look to Kaz, who stands beside me with a spotlight shining on the approaching craft.
