Page 10 of Generation Omega: Revealed
I’m still laughing as we reach the auditorium doors just as the crowd inside starts streaming out.
“What’s happening?” Ethan asks a woman near us, her cheek decorated with delicate cherry blossoms. “I thought there was a lecture.”
Over Ethan’s shoulder, I witness the woman’s gobsmacked expression at the sight of Ethan’s burly body. She stammers, “The professor’s flight was delayed. They rescheduled the lecture for this afternoon, during the break before tonight’s rave.” When she finally notices me on his back, she grins and mouths, “You are the luckiest woman alive.”
“I totally am.”
Blushing, she moves with the crowd as they head toward the main convention space.
After setting me down, Ethan says, “Well? What’s next?”
Wearing the blandest expression I can manage, I casually answer, “Maybe we should meet Gideon Blake.”
Ethan’s body stiffens, his eyes flashing with shock and confusion. “Gideon Blake?TheGideon Blake… he’s here?”
Oh, my goodness. My badass alpha in his leather jacket, with oven mitts stuffed in the pockets, is suddenly adorably boyish about the presence of his hero at an omega convention. I’m not surprised, of course. Men, women, children, probably even house plants, get all sorts of giddy over Gideon Blake, A-list action star and celebrity.
“Yes, he’s here, a late addition to the event. He’s in an omegaverse movie that comes out next year. We can get our picture taken with him, but not until after we get our faces painted.” I lean into my ecstatic bestie and sigh when his arms surround me. “Thank you for all of this. I want today and tomorrow to last forever.”
He kisses my head. “Me too, but more than that, I want us to last forever.”
It hits me like a sucker punch, the thought of going back to my life after this, living five hours from Ethan, sleeping alone, unable to be held just like this.
“Hey, what is it?”
Guilt must show on my face because he’s instantly trying to soothe it away.
“I was just thinking about what happens after the weekend. It was never easy to live away from you and now…”
He cups my cheek and caresses me with his gaze, his voice, and his bearing. “Will you do me a favor?”
“What?”
“Don’t think about it yet. I haven’t actually run out of surprises, but it’s not time for the rest. For now, our job is to live in the moment.” He pauses, searching my eyes like he’s studying a map with a very confusing legend. “I don’t want you to miss a second of this because you’re worried about what happens after it ends. I promise that we’ll work everything out, okay?”
I exhale and snuggle into him. “I can do that. I can think about this moment and just be happy.”
“Good. That’s settled. Now, can we get our faces painted already? I want to meet Gideon Blake.”
CHAPTER6
TILLIE
“I love it.” Ethan studies my cheek that now displays a colorful bouquet. A white daisy, a blue morning glory, and a pink dahlia with a vine to pull them together—it’s divine.
I beam at his reflection in the mirror. “Your turn.”
Ethan is curious and amused. “I’m not saying no, but do alphas actually get their faces painted?”
Our extremely talented artist—whose cheek is adorned with small purple flowers attached to a narrow stalk—sighs audibly. “Only the ones who’ve found their omega.” She flashes a sassy smile at Ethan. “Is sheyouromega?”
The answering sparkle in his blue eyes sends an electric current through me. “She is.”
Her multicolored hair shimmers in the glow of the dozen lights surrounding the mirror, as she hums ominously. “Then you better let everyone know of your claim. She’s gorgeous and would be worshipped by any alpha.” She winks at me and I grin at my beautiful alpha.
Ethan scoffs, his arms crossed over his chest. “Then you better make it clear to everyone that she’s taken and so am I. I wouldn’t want to have to get allalphaon anyone who touches what’s mine.” Ethan does the fiercely possessive thing a little too well and my body responds more than it should in a public place.
“Yes, alpha,” the artist croons, not even bothering to hide the mischief in her lusty gaze. Then she leans closer to me. “I’m rarely jealous, but he’s thewholepackage, isn’t he?”
