“Yeah?”

“What happens now?” she asks.

I shrug. “We move forward. Together.”

She sits up, tucking her red hair behind her ear. Her lips are still swollen from where they were wrapped around my dick. There’s a mark on her neck and tits where I nipped at her skin.

“I’m willing to give us another shot,” she says. “But I don’t want things to be the same. All the fighting and drama, I don’t want that again. We should take things slowly this time. Get to know each other again.”

“I can do that.”

“No sex.”

I furrow my brow. “No sex? You do remember what we just did, don’t you?”

She laughs a little. “I do. And it was beautiful and amazing and incredible, but we’ve both changed a lot, and we need to make sure we still want the same things before we keep screwing each other’s brains out. We always resort to sex to solve our problems. Well, it didn’t solve anything.”

“Okay. No sex. Anything else?”

“I don’t know. Do you understand? I just want to get to know you again and it not be clouded by...you know...your dick.”

“Got it. Don’t necessarily see the point, but I got it.”

“It’s important to me. That’s the point.”

I lean over and kiss her. “I got it, Case.”

“And I don’t want to tell everyone yet either.”

Frowning, I ask, “Why the hell not?”

“I just don’t. What if this all goes to shit again?”

“Baby, you have to have a little faith,” I reply, kissing her again.

“I need you to go home,” she says, pulling away from me.

“Damn, throwing me out?”

She stands up, and it’s hard to resist her in all her naked glory. I rise and grip her hips, pulling her in for a searing kiss.

“Something to remember me by,” I say before backing away and gathering my clothes.

We get dressed, and she walks me to her door. I don’t want to leave, she knows that, but I’ll give her what she needs.

“Just so you know, I know what it is I want. I want you, every part of you. I want to put a ring on your finger and watch you walk down the aisle toward me one day. I want to see your belly swell with our children. I want it all.”

“And I want that too,” she admits. “When I feel like we’re both ready for it.”

I don’t tell her I’m ready now. Right fucking now. I will be the man she needs me to be. And whenever she’s ready, I’ll give her all of that.

Irefill Caleb’s sweet tea, trying not to stare at him. He’s there with the usual crew for lunch. Turns out, Derek fired them shortly after I broke up with him. Not surprising. I wounded his ego, which was bigger than his sex drive.

“Yeah, well my parents are insisting we have the rehearsal dinner at the estate.”
