We hang up and it takes me a while, but I can’t believe I’m here, in a bed I slept with Grayer in, in a hotel room and going to watch him ride later today. It’s crazy how quickly everything can change.
I spend the day with Haylee by the pool at the hotel, where she tells me everything that happened last night, in detail. Apparently Ty has a tattoo across his lower stomach that says,Born to Ride.
I’m not surprised.
It’s then, after we’ve talked about our nights, she levels me a serious expression. One that holds questions. “And, whoa, girl. He really has a kid? That’s crazy.”
I breathe out deeply, still trying to wrap my mind around it. “I know, right?”
“Are you mad he didn’t tell you?”
I shrug. “Not really. It just surprised me, ya know?”
“Yeah. At least it’s not a wife you didn’t know about.”
She has a point for sure.
We order lunch, again by the pool, and think to ourselves, it’s much better than gas station food and sleeping in her truck.
Like Grayer said, there’s a car waiting for us at five to take us to the arena. It was all very similar to the night before, except this time we made it in time to see the beginning of the show where the riders come out with flames and an extravagant light show.
Grayer is on a bull named Tank and manages to score a ninety-two and then in the short go, he scores a ninety to win the round in Biloxi.
Seeing him that excited over the win is worth not seeing him all day.
After the event, we’re standing in the parking lot. Reid left with Britany and Wyatt right after the event finished. I guess they caught a flight back home to Texas.
That left the rest of us in the parking lot behind the arena. I’m torn. What now? Is he going to ask me to leave? He said meet me in Biloxi and I did, but we never talked about what would happen after that. “Will you sign my tits?” I ask, pushing my chest toward him. I had three beers at the event. I think maybe that was too much and I’m making a fool out of myself.
Grayer rolls his eyes. “Put them away.”
I give him a grave expression. Or try to at least, but then I end up laughing. “I’m serious. I want you to sign my tits.” Believe it or not, I’m not even the first person to ask him that tonight. And I’m not sure if it’s that I push my chest in his face, or that I have the inability to take no for an answer. But Grayer accepts the marker I found in my bag.
Wrapping one hand behind my neck, he leans in, his body pressed against mine. “How about I sign your pussy instead?”
I close my eyes and hold my breath. I never want to part from his embrace. “Okay, if you insist.”
He bends down to my ear, his finger under my jaw. “I fucking insist.”
Laughter around us draws our attention elsewhere, reminding us of the fact that we’re not alone in the moment.
Grayer leans into my side watching Haylee and Ty flirt, a longneck bottle in his hand. “Ty has a thing for brunettes.”
It’s late, around midnight and we probably should get some sleep, but it seems these guys are ready for anything with wild eyes and bright smiles. I guess riding a bull will do that to you. I can’t imagine the adrenaline wears off quickly.
I look over at Haylee and smile. Haylee told me this morning they slept together, and it was the greatest night of her life. And for Haylee to say something like that, I’m assuming it had to have been. “Haylee has a sudden fascination with bull riders,” I tell Grayer, watching him.
Grayer nods and leans back into his truck, giving another nod to the door. “I’m assuming Haylee’s okay with Ty riding with her?”
My heart jumps. He wants me to come with him!
Haylee and Ty hear him say that, both acting nonchalant about it, but it’s clear they both had a good time last night. “I’m okay with that,” Haylee says.
Grayer laughs and removes his hat to toss it inside the truck when he opens the door. “All right, we’ll go back to the hotel to get your truck and then you’ll follow me. And if you get lost, Ty’ll help ya out.”
I turn around, unsure what’s happening when Grayer grabs my hand. “You’re with me, honey.”
I wish that were true in a hundred different ways. “Where are we going?”
He arches his eyebrow when I step up into his truck, the door hanging open. “You wanna come to my place, right? Then it’s off to Tulsa next weekend.”
I try not to squeal. “Is there a bed there? Because I’m disappointed that we didn’t try one out last night or this morning.”
Before I turn in the seat, he stands between my legs, his hands on the door frame as he leans in. “I have a bed there, yes, and I promise . . .” His lips part and find mine, the sweetest tempting kiss is laid upon me, but it’s different from his kisses before. Sure there is tenderness there, but it’s passionate and promising too. “To make it up to you.”
“I’m holding you to that, Eight Seconds.”
