Mac:
Any smoke without fire?
Jason:
Well, that’s just it, isn’t it? The whole situation totally divided the running community. And when Glenn let it slip that Adrienne had been dropped from his roster during the camp … well, you know what they say about women scorned.
Mac:
She made it up?
Jason:
It’s her word against his. But that wasn’t the end of the story. Despite being in the eye of the storm, Adrienne continued to run, breaking the course record at the Yorkshire 100 only a couple of weeks later. But you know what’sspooky? That same day Glenn was found dead in his home, not far from the starting line of that very race. After a short police investigation, the coroner ruled that he died of natural causes. A heart attack.
Mac:
Bullshit. A guy that fit?
Jason:
Right? But with the stress of the accusations, the threat of losing his top clients, his business … a lot of people believed Adrienne had a lot to answer for. She gave up running after that, and there were plenty who were happy to see her go.
Mac:
So she’s got balls entering a race again.
Jason:
And you’ll never guess what else … she’s Boones’s runner thirteen.
