“Naughty.” I gave him a playful slap on the arm. “You’ll get us arrested.”

“It would be worth every one of those ten minutes,” he said, nuzzling my frozen nose. “But you are about to be a mega-star, so I’ll have to hold off until the bed is delivered. I’m thinking something with posts for decorating with scarves.”

“I do like scarves,” I said, musing. “And I do like the idea of having our own space. And I do like you.”

Ace frowned. “Just like?”

“Love,” I said. “If you don’t believe me, I can give you my middle and high school notebooks with ‘I love Ace’ and ‘Ace plus Haley’ written in hearts all over them. But I thought you knew I loved you because I wrote you a song.”

“It’s my most played track,” he said. “But I still like to hear it in real life, and I definitely want to see those notebooks. Does that mean you’re saying yes?”

My cheeks flamed when I remembered all the times I’d written my name and Ace’s name on my notebooks. But it was a good memory, a sweet memory, and a wish that had come true.

“Yes.” I wrapped my arms around him. “I love you, Ace.”

“I love you, too, bug.” He kissed my frozen lips, and I felt his love like a warm blanket around my heart.
