He dropped his overnight bag on the floor and kicked off his shoes. “Pretty productive. Got some tasks done. I managed to get Lottie to Sarah’s house without too much fuss.”

“She doesn’t know you’re seeing me tonight?”

Eddie shook his head. “Hell no. The fuss she’d make would give me a headache.” He picked up the room service menu and smiled. “She’s excited for Thursday’s game, though.”

“I’m glad. Even managed to get your courtside again.”

Eddie stepped before me and dotted a soft kiss on my waiting mouth. “Thank you. She’ll love them.” He lifted the menu. “We ordering, or did you want to go out for food?”

Reaching out, I gripped his waist. “No chance I’m letting you leave this room until morning.”

The smirk he sent me had my heart tripping over itself. “That right?”

“Sure is.” I shifted my hands to grip his glutes and squeezed, earning me a chuckle.

“I can get on board with that. But food first. I’m starving.”

“For dick?” I quirked my brow and brushed my shorts-covered groin against him.

He snorted. “As delicious as that sounds, I need real food.”

I sighed and headed to the bed, making myself comfortable leaning against the headboard. “I suppose I can be magnanimous and know that you’ll need the energy for what I have planned for you.”

Pink colored his cheeks, but the heat in his eyes didn’t speak of embarrassment. Eddie liked what he was hearing. He angled to the other side of the bed and joined me, holding the menu out before him. Clearing his throat, he made a good show of perusing the in-room offerings.

“Stop staring and make food choices.” His lips twitched when he spoke, but he didn’t look my way.

I sighed and leaned into him. “Fine. Let’s see what’s fast and will give the perfect number of calories.”

He snorted and wrapped an arm around my shoulders. I took that as my opportunity to snuggle into him and rested my head on his chest while making an effort to pay attention to the menu.

It didn’t take long to make our choice and order on their TV app. Within half an hour, our food was delivered, and we sat on the small couch, food on our laps.

“I spoke to Emily again today at the academy about next month and bringing Lottie,” Eddie said after swallowing a mouthful of pasta.

“What did she say?”

“There’s definitely space for her at the summer camp.”

“That’s good, right?” When he winced, I wasn’t quite sure.

“She’s not sold on the idea, but it was between that or staying with my parents, so…” He shrugged and picked up his bottle of water.

“Yeah, I get it, but at least it’s on the same campus, so she gets to see you every day. It’s not like you’re sending her off into the wild. That’s gotta help, right?”

He swallowed and nodded. “It’s the only thing that’s making her stop behaving like a complete brat.” I snorted at that and raised my brows. He chuckled. “She’s my kid so I’m allowed to call her out on her shit when the occasion calls.”

“But no one else, right?”

Eddie grinned. “You got it.”

“I think she’ll be fine, though,” I continued, returning to Lottie being at the same college as us over the summer. While Montview ran the kick-ass summer program for college basketball players looking to go pro, they ran a whole host of other schemes. The kids’ summer school being one of them. Before this year, Lottie had previously spent the time when her dad was training with her mom or her grandparents, so Eddie had never had to worry about being able to dedicate his time to the academy before. “When is it Moira flies in?” I asked, thinking about Eddie’s ex-wife.

“Why, going to make sure you’re not around and in hiding?” A mischievous smirk followed.

“No,” I was quick to say, the word a little more high-pitched than I intended. At the sound, Eddie laughed a little too loudly. “Screw you, jackass.”

Eddie’s smile didn’t calm when he said, “She’s flying in the third week in June. She’ll bring Lottie to the camp before she heads back overseas. It’s good timing really, as Lottie will only miss the first couple of days of the summer school. Not that I think it matters, as it’s a fun program, you know?”
