Page 24 of F*ck It Out With A Devil

“Bash, what are you doing here?” He is so gorgeous with that devilish smile I’ve come to love seeing grace his thin lips. When he looks at me like this, I suddenly wish we were alone, to enjoy the company of each others touch

“I wanted to take you out to dinner tonight, if that’s okay.” He says, and I feel bad that I’m going to have to decline. Maybe I should cancel the party.

He must see me overthinking things in my head as if he knows I’m about to say no.

“I would love nothing more, but I’ve already made plans with Gaia.” I see the face he makes when I say her name. I know they don’t like each other, but they will have to just get over it.

“I see. What plans did you make, if you don’t mind me asking?”

“Not at all, would you like to come in?”

“No, I don’t want to intrude.”

“It’s really okay, we were just figuring out what to wear.”

“Mind if I see what you decided on?”

“Now, Bash, we have been over this. I’m not a little girl, I can choose my own clothes to wear.” I chuckle. “We are going to a party Gaia heard about and before you ask when and all that, I’m not telling you.”

“Why not? I have a right to know.” He chuckles.

“You do not, you’re not my husband.”

“Yet.” He winks, invading my personal space.

“Yet? What are you saying??”

“What I’m saying is,” He reaches out, grabs my hand, and places it over his heart. “I’m in love with you. That’s why I’ve done all that I have. The bank took your home away, and I gave it back to you so you’d always have stability even when life hits you hard. Getting to know you better as an adult and growing closer with you is something I deeply treasure. I just wish your parents were here to see how happy you make me and what a beautiful and amazing woman you’ve become. It took some courage, but when I finally asked you on a date seven years ago I could never have foreseen how perfect you were for me. You bring out this protective streak in me, and it’s hard to ignore. I know we still have a lot more to learn about each other, but I want to be here, with you. ” He says, pulling me closer. So close, my chest brushes against his as he leans down and captures my lips.

This kiss speaks volumes to my soul. I feel like he’s trying to show me how much he loves me. I don’t know if I love him, I know I really, really like him, and I’m glad he was my first. When he pulls back, I’m breathless and more confused than before.

“Oh, Bash, you can’t say beautiful things like that to me, and then kiss me senseless.” I chuckle.

“Marry me.” He whispers, touching our foreheads together.

“What?” I know he didn’t just ask me to marry him. I mean, I’ve known him my whole life, but marrying him, at my age. I’m not ready to settle down.

“I said, marry me.” He repeats himself. “ I know my wife was like a mother to you, therefore she would be most happy about our union. My son is a different story.”

I've never really had the pleasure of spending much time with his son because he was in and out of boarding schools most of his life. Whenever I would go over to play when he was back in town, his mother would whisk him off on an adventure I often wished I were a part of.

“Didn’t you get his blessing before you came over here to ask for my hand?” It’s only right that he does that. Afterall, if he wants to marry me, why wouldn’t he involve his son?

He smiles down at me. “He’s away at school, there was no time.” That sounds odd, but I don’t have time to think more on it.

“Bash, surely you can’t be serious about marriage?”“I have never been more serious than the first time I asked my wife to marry me. I want and need you. Please, say yes. We will have the rest of our lives to figure it all out.” He pleads with me, claiming my lips once more.

What the hell am I doing? I think, just before my treacherous mouth whispers, “Yes.”

“Yes?” He asks, reaching out to touch the side of my face as my eyes slide closed.

“Yes. This is absolutely crazy, but I feel something for you… Here.” I say, reaching up and placing my hand over his heart. “I don’t know if it’s love, but it’s definitely something.”

“Athens, you’ve made me the happiest man alive by agreeing to be my wife.” He whispers, leaning down and pressing his lips against mine. His hands slide lower as he grabs my ass and picks me up. I squeal in delight, wrapping my arms tightly around his neck.

“Now, you have to get out of here so we can get ready.” I announce.

“I suppose you are correct. Wouldn’t want to ravage you here, while your best friend is somewhere, lurking in the house.” I smack him on the chest, rolling my eyes at him.
