His limbs are all around me. I couldn’t move if I tried, and I don’t want to. Burrowing my face between his neck and shoulder, I soak in his warmth. The words:
“I love you so much.”
“I love you more,” I whisper, knowing no matter what, it’ll always be true.
“Should we get back to the party?” he asks.
“No,” I say. “They’re fine. I want to be right here.”
“Andwork with me every day?”
“If I can manage to keep my hands off you.”
“I’m sure you’ll be fine,” he says, annoyed.
It’s allowed. I’m still pretty good at finishing my homework before I take my treat, so to speak.
“What about the apartment?” he asks.
“Veryinterested,” I tell him.
“Yeah?”
“Why do you sound surprised?”
His hands move up and down my slightly sweaty back. “That’s a lot ofmetime.”
“You’ve been here twenty-five days in a row. Do you hear me complaining?”
“You get a break when you go to work, though.”
“I don’t need a break from you,” I tell him. I can’t get enough. I’m not sure I ever will.
“EvenIneed breaks from me,” he says.
“Well, you don’t get the amazing view.”
He laughs quietly and gives my ass a soft slap. “I’m pretty happy with the view from here.”
“I’m glad you’re happy,” I tell him.
“It’s more than that,” he says.
I move slightly so I can see him. “Care to share?”
“I would if there was a word I knew for it.”
“Try. You can even use sentences.”
“Okay.” He takes a deep breath, and there’s something softly shy in his gaze that I love. “It’s like belonging, sort of? Like I belong here with you. This isright, Ryan. Don’t you think?”
“Yeah, I do. And youdobelong with me, dumbass. You always did. I tried to tell you.”
He closes his eyes and leans his forehead against mine. “I told you I’m not as smart as you.”
“You’re fucking perfect,” I say. “Infuriatingly perfect.”
“Emphasis on infuriating?”
