“It’s not dumb, Ollie; she’s our scent match, our mate. If I had met her, I would be in love with her too.” He gives me a wistful smile, his eyes shining with the regret of never meeting her.
“We will find her,” Hale says walking through the door, Jack right behind him. “I have people from a top security firm handling everything, they specialize in finding missing omegas. They’ve tracked down her mother but she’s refusing to talk to them. They’re sending a couple of guys out to talk to her and survey the area. If you’re okay with it, I’ll be issuing a public press release, asking for help finding her.”
“Add her photo too, anything that will help find her.”
He drops down next to me, typing away on his for a couple of minutes before tossing it on the bed, only to immediately pick it back up when all our phones ping with a notification.
“Holy shit,” Jack whispers, in awe of what he’s reading on his screen. “Her dad was Deon Jordan? No wonder she’s so talented.”
The news article goes on to say how her dad was in a car accident last year and had been in a coma up until a couple of months ago when he passed away. According to court records, there isn’t much more information about Savvy, just that her mom was looking after her. They have no idea how she ended up staying in North Carolina with her uncle.
“This will help find her, Ollie,” Hale says, a smile breaking out across his face. “Cops are going to be more invested in solving this now that they know her dad was basically rock royalty.”
“It’s fucking pathetic that you have to be famous to get any sort of help,” Jack spits out. “What about all the other people who go missing who don’t have fame as an initiative to find them?”
We all agree, but right now I can’t help but be thankful that her dad was famous. I would take any extra help I could get to find my mate.
And when do we find her? I’m never letting her go.
Savvy
Beep. Beep. Beep.
I groan, my hand searching for my phone to shut down the annoying alarm, but I come up empty.
Beep. Beep. Beep.
I try to sit up, but everything hurts, my eyes fly open, and memories of what happened come flooding back. I look around and realize the beeping was coming from a heart monitor. I was in a softly lit room, and there is a man sitting on a recliner, staring right at me.
I let out a small squeak, as he slowly gets up, heading straight towards me, before squatting next to my bed. I get a closer look at him. He’s a big guy, around six three and probably in his early fifties. His hair is gray and he has deep blue eyes. I also note the bags under those eyes, it looks like he hasn’t slept in days.
I watch his hand move towards mine, but he pulls back as I eye him warily. “Hi Savannah, how are you feeling?” His voice cracks as he speaks, like his holding back tears.
“I’m okay,” I whisper, my own voice coming out hoarse. “Could I please have some water?”
“Of course, sweet girl.” He grabs the pitcher and fills the glass next to it, holding it to my lips and I greedily gulp down all of it. “Do you need more?”
I shake my head no and he places it down. focusing on me again. “I’ve been trying to find you ever since I saw the video footage at my club. Your voice would have left no doubt if your red hair hadn’t beena dead giveaway. Talented just like your daddy. I’m so fucking sorry I couldn’t get to you sooner, Savannah; what the doctors told me…” He looks away from me, but not before I see the tears leaking from his eyes.
“You’re Mr. Jones?”
He wipes his face before looking at me again, this time risking taking my hand and I let him. “Yes, but please call me Liam. I know you must have so many questions, but you need to take it easy, okay?”
“I need to know what happened,” I grip his hand, and I’m surprised at how comfortable I feel around this alpha. The omega, I still have to come to terms with, sees him as a non-threat, and I have to agree with her.
“Your unc- Greg is dead. Shot by one of my guys, when they found out what he did to you. Fuck Savannah, if only I had gotten to you earlier. I’ll spend the rest of my life making it up to you.”
“It’s not your fault, Liam; I didn’t make it easy on you. I was scared if I left any of my information behind, Greg would somehow find out. I’m happy he’s dead.”
“He deserved to suffer more for what he did to you, but I’m also happy he is no longer a threat.” He clears his throat before continuing. “You passed out in the ambulance, the doctors kept you sedated for a few days, and I’ve been waiting for you to wake up. I would love for you to stay here with me, but if you’re not comfortable with that, I can set you up in your own place as long as you agree to some security measures. This whole thing has blown up quite a lot, and your face is plastered all over the news. No one knows where you are, but I will have to let the authorities know as soon as you’re ready. They currently have you listed as a missing person.”
“Is my dad safe? My mom made some horrible threats when she sent me away.”
“Savannah… I think you should get some sleep. We can discuss more when you’re stronger.”
“He’s dead isn’t he?” I ask softly.
“He’s been gone for about two months, sweet girl. I have no idea how your mom kept that information hidden, but I’m looking into it. If she was involved, I’ll make her regret it.”
