He smirked. ‘Something like that. But I wasn’t talking about the bed.’
Luke nodded towards the bow of the boat, which had the railings around the front, just like in the famousTitanicscene.
She let out a little gasp. ‘Can I?’
‘I’ve already cleared it with the skipper.’
She quickly scrambled up to the front and stuck her arms out so she was flying over the water. It was so much more exhilarating as they sped across the water. She felt Luke step up behind her and stick his arms out too as they flew together, their fingers touching just like in the film, just like they’d done the first night they met.
He wrapped his arms around her and held her close as she flew and she laughed at how closely he was replicating the film.
Then she felt him step back away from her and she turned around laughing only to find he was down on one knee behind her.
‘Oh,’ she said, her hands going to her face.
He reached out for her hand and she gave it to him.
‘My beautiful Flick, I think I fell in love with you that first night you arrived in Lovegrove Bay, when we flew together on the rooftop, only I didn’t realise it then. But my love for you has grown over the last year so that it’s a part of me, something I carry with me everywhere I go. You have made me the happiest man alive and I will try, for the rest of my life, to make you as happy. Will you marry me?’
‘Yes, of course I will, I love you so much. You haveturned my life upside down in the best possible way and I cannot imagine my life without you.’
He opened up the ring box and she saw a beautiful sapphire with a small diamond on either side. He slid it onto her finger and it fitted perfectly. He stood up and kissed her and she melted into him. He fitted her perfectly too.
She pulled back. ‘I’ve just realised, if I marry you, I really will have to give up my immortality.’
He shook his head. ‘No, you won’t. The kind of love we have will last forever.’
