He turned back and suddenly his eyes widened in horror and he charged towards her. He rugby tackled her to the ground, cradling her body and head as they hit the floor just as the branches of the tree landed around them with a loud crash.
Her heart was racing at what had just happened but to her relief she realised they were surrounded by the thinner branches near the top, which shouldn’t have caused any injury. So she was shocked when Luke let out a moan of pain.
‘Oh my god Luke, are you OK?’ Flick said.
He let out another groan and a wheeze.
She moved her hands round his back to make sure he hadn’t been speared by one of the branches. She checked his back, sides, shoulders, neck and bum but could find no obvious sign of injury.
‘Is it your legs?’ She couldn’t reach those, pinned under the weight of his body.
He shook his head. ‘I’m OK, just give me a sec,’ he croaked.
Her heart was still racing with fear. They were surrounded by the branches of the fallen tree and she couldn’t move to help him. ‘Have you broken something?’
He shook his head again, still wheezing in pain. ‘Are you OK?’
‘Yes, where are you hurt?’ She felt around his back again.
‘My balls,’ he groaned.
‘What?’
‘You kneed me in the balls when I threw you to the ground.’
‘Oh my god.’ She tried to rearrange her legs so she wasn’t putting pressure on them. ‘Are you OK?’
‘I will be in a minute.’
She let out a sigh of relief. ‘I should hope so, we need everything working down there for when we have more incredible sex.’
His eyebrows shot up. ‘There’s going to be more incredible sex?’
‘There better be. You’ve ruined me for other men.’
A smile spread across his face but then he frowned. ‘But you thought I had an ulterior motive for buying you all the gift shop stock.’
Her hands were still around him so she stroked them up his back. ‘I never thought that, not for one second. You’re one of the kindest, most wonderful men I’ve ever met and I trust you completely. And I’m sorry if I made you think otherwise. When you asked me if that’s what I thought, I did have to stop and analyse whether my experience with Ryan was making me angry and defensive or whether I was just annoyed with you for not telling me and lying to me about the kitty. Turns out I’m just annoyed with you. I’m still annoyed with you andthisdoesn’t change that.’
‘What doesn’t change that?’
‘This.’ She reached up and kissed him and she felt him smile against her lips as he kissed her back.
She pulled back to stroke his face. ‘I am still very annoyed with you,’ she said softly.
He grinned. ‘I know.’ He kissed her again and it made her needy and weak.
She pulled back again. ‘Especially because you let me spend thousands of pounds of your money. I would never have done that if I’d known.’
‘I know. But it made it easier to give it when you thought it came from a kitty, and you still fought against it, demanding to pay the kitty back.’
‘I know a few thousand pounds is probably nothing to you, but it’s still your money. I will be happier once all the gift shop stuff is going back.’
He shook his head. ‘The gift shop stuff stays. If you want more incredible sex, you’re going to have to let me have that.’
She let out a laugh of outrage. ‘You can’t blackmail me with sex.’
He kissed her neck, just below her ear, sending pleasure darting through her stomach. ‘It’s your choice really, hot sex every morning,’ he kissed her again, trailing his mouth down her throat. ‘Every night.’ He kissed her again. ‘And probably even every lunchtime. Or you return the gift shop stock.’ He kissed her on her shoulder, at the bottom of her neck. ‘You have to decide what’s more important, your principles or an endless supply of really hot sex.’
