“What I gotta do to get Haven here by tonight?”

“Shiidd, the way she’s hormonal as fuck, I’ll throw her ass to Niceville Shores.”

I died laughing. “Nah, don’t do her like that.”

“Mane, please. I’ve been two assholes today. She ain’t gon’ call me the third. All ‘cause she wants some fuckin’ nasty ass pasta salad, bruh. Her ass gon’ have heart burn, then turn around and blame me.”

In the midst of me laughing, I questioned, “Heart burn?”

“Oh, damn. I wasn’t supposed to say that.”

“Nah, it’s cool wit’ me. Actually… We kind of in the same boat, minus the asshole part.” I chuckled.

“Oh, shit! Yeah, let me gon’ and put this crazy ass girl on a plane. We’ll be there tonight.”

“Aight. I’ll have my people swoop you up.”

“Aight, bet.”

Hanging up, I felt much better. Grinning, I got through the rest of my day knowing I was about to light up my lady’s world.

Minutes later, my phone vibrated with a message. Glancing at the screen, it was a picture from front desk security. Gensen was in the lobby, pacing the floor. Standing, I moved from around my desk, left my office, then went into the lobby to see what the hell she wanted. Genika had absolutely no access to me, and neither would anyone else in her family.

“My wife already dusted yo’ goofy ass off. The fuck you want?”

“I’m here about my sister,” she stated, rolling her neck in the process.

“Oh, aight. One of my old professors once said goofy bitches gon’ always goofy bitch. It’s real goofy of both of y’all to think runnin’ up on me or my wife is smart.”

“Whether you believe it or not, everyone ain’t scared of you, Adir.”

Advancing on her, I stood close enough for her to see the pulse along my neck.

“You shouldn’t be scared. Terrified is more of the word I’m lookin’ for. This ain’t safe for you, shawty. Fuck around and find yo’ ass being unable to feel anything.”

She backed up and glared at me. “Please!” she hissed. “That’s all you’re good for isthreats.Fuck you and I promise you; youwillgive my sister what she deserves!” Whirling around, she stormed off and out of the entrance.

Security wore the same amused expression that I did. “If she comes back through that door, shoot her muhfuckin’ ass,” I stated. Leaving the lobby, I went back to my office to finish up my day.

A few hours later, Pretty and I arrived at Jason’s, an upscale steakhouse restaurant on the waterfront. She ordered a tea to drink, and I ordered the strongest shit they had along with a water. Jabari and Haven would be pulling up in a minute.

“I haven’t been able to fully enjoy a meal, so hopefully, tonight goes well,” Pretty said.

“I hope it goes well for you, baby.”

She cut her eyes at me, then looked back at the menu.

I chuckled under my breath. “You gon’ eat that attitude later, my baby.”

Her face scrunched up just as Jabari and Haven entered the restaurant. They snuck our way with Haven quietly giggling behind her hand. Sure enough, she was pregnant.

“Attitude? You’re lucky I’m even sitting here, Adir Bell,” Pretty fussed.

“Is that right?”

“You damn right.”

Haven tapped Pretty on the shoulder. With a scowl, Pretty turned around, prepared to cuss Haven out.
