Within fifteen minutes, the patio was put back together, food was put away, and dishes were either in the dishwasher or washed and drying on the counter. Mac and Hardin said their last goodbyes and locked up the house, looking in on Stowe and making sure Homer was secure in his pen before stumbling into Mac’s bedroom.
Hardin pulled Mac close, scenting her hair, then nuzzling her neck and kissing her lingeringly. “Too tired to consummate our engagement?”
“I think so. Sorry. I’m so tired.”
“Let me help you get ready for bed, honey.” Hardin stripped Mac’s clothes slowly, kissing every inch of her as it was exposed.
The drowsiness cleared and her body ignited under the ministrations of his touch, his lips, and his tongue. Hardin brought her pleasure that made her weep. He entered her as it spread from her core, pulsing and unfurling in ribbons, making her entire body thrum.
Sleep was overtaking Mac soon after Hardin pulled out. “What was plan B?”
“The same as plan A. I wasn’t taking any chances,” he murmured, pulling her to nestle in the crook of his shoulder.
“I love you, babe.”
“I love you too, honey.” He pushed her damp hair back and kissed her temple. “Now sleep.”
