Me

Any time after Harley is dismissed from school.

Marcus

3. But I will be cashing in on your promise, Mia.

Me

I don’t remember any promises. Drop Harley off.

I pulled back the white and gray linens and stood from the bed. Yawning, I raised my arms above my head to stretch my muscles. Relaxed and satisfied, I stripped my bed, tossing everything in a pile for dry cleaning. Thinking back to the multiple orgasms I received last night sent a fluttering sensation to my heart. En route to the bathroom, I stumbled over my mustard-colored throw pillow. Readjusting myself, I couldn’t help but laugh at my sudden clumsiness.

Adjusting the lever, I danced my hand underneath the water to find the correct temperature. I gripped the gold shower door handle and slid it back for me to enter. The hot water coated my skin as I smiled. A sense of joy attached itself to me, something I hadn’t experienced since before Nathan. The thought alone forced my brows to crowd.

Stepping out of the shower, I dressed in sports gear and pulled my locs back into a ponytail. I retrieved my phone with the intent of calling my mother, but rolled my eyes instead.

Marcus

We are a package deal.

I toggled over to my mother’s name and on the first ring, she answered.

“Mia Crystal Robinson,” she said with false anger.

“Yes, mommy.”

“It’s been three days, honey. You haven’t visited and no goodnight text before bed. You live alone. At this point, you should move back in with us. There are twelve bedrooms in this house.”

Every night I texted my mother to confirm I’m home and safe. However, last night, Marcus’s face was in between my legs. Massaging the bridge of my nose, I knew I needed to say something before a moving truck backed into my driveway.

“Mom, I was on a date. Before you get excited, I’m just testing the waters. Nothing serious at this moment.”

A shriek echoed in my ear. Trendy Robinson was ready to plan a wedding and spoil grandchildren.

“I need details. Are we talking about dinner dates? Is it between two guys? What do they do for...”

“Mom, I promise we will talk more about it on Monday,” I said.

“Are you trying to kill me? Today is Wednesday,” she said, and I giggled into the phone.

“All right, I will call you later, okay? Bye, Mom,” I said.

I hung up the phone and looked at the time. I had two hours to prepare some snacks and myself for Marcus.

I blew into the inflatable drink holder when the doorbell rang. My phone vibrated from my security cameras and I cackled. Harley stood with sunglasses and her floaty in hand next to her fine ass daddy. Marcus kept his attire plain, with a pair of fresh sneakers, tapered jeans and a graphic tee. No watches or jewelry to be found. I capped off the inflated drink floater and unlocked the door.

Being around Marcus sent me floating, making it impossible to give him my eyes.

“All right, Miss Allen, I see the sunglasses and butterfly T-shirt. Please step inside,” I said.

Harley gave me a smile and strolled into my living room. I gave Marcus a quick look, and he laughed at this diva attitude his daughter displayed. Before I could walk away from the door, he gripped my hand.

“Last night, I recall a warmer invitation,” he said.

“Ms. Mia, can I use your bathroom?” Harley asked, stealing my attention from the seductive gaze of Marcus.

I untangled my hand from him and escorted her to the bathroom. I took her floaty and stood beside the door as Marcus’s eyes roamed my body. He summoned me to him with his hand and my mouth parted, but no words exited.
