Nope, she is family. If she changes her mind, I don’t mind that I helped her through school.
Matt: One day, you might run out of money.
If I do, then I will know I did good things with it. People are what matters. I like spending money on people.
Matt: You are a good man, Aaron.
Can you put together options for an adult vacation? Inclusive places. They don't have to be LGBTQ+ specific, just open. Resorts and cruises where children aren’t allowed?
Matt: Sure, sending a friend on a trip?
No. It’s for me.
Matt: Sorry your text cut off. Who is it for?
Not funny. It’s for me and a friend.
Matt: No shit.
You don’t know me. LOL
Matt: You are my best friend. I know you. I’ll give you some options.
Can you also get cruise stuff together for Sarah? She plans to kidnap her best friend from the kids and her husband for a vacation.
Matt: I got you.
Matt: We need to get a drink. There are things we need to discuss, and not all are business.
Next week? I’m out of here at noon today.
Matt: Yeah, I am still shocked over you taking a weekend off. Regardless, I can do that. I have other things to discuss. Call as you are wrapping up the day.
Will do.
I sent one more quick text.
I am starting my second meeting and looking forward to this afternoon and our date tonight. I’ll let you know when I am on the way over.
MyFantasy: I can’t wait! See you soon.xoxo
I smiled at my phone. Sarah looked at me, and the corner of her lips turned up. “Makes my heart happy.” She said to her desk. I realized River was making my heart happy, too.
The door opened, and the owners of Demolish U entered. I shook hands and introduced Rodney. “Let’s go to the conference room and look at some plans.”
It was 11:15 a.m. when we finished the meeting. The only thing left was to call Matt. I couldn’t even recall when I hadn’t worked for at least part of the day. I reminded Sarah and Rodney that I was only available for emergencies until Monday morning.
“I’ll be at River’s at 7:15 p.m. I’m watching Daisy and his dragon, right?” Rodney looked at me. I had forgotten originally it was just for Charlie.
“Oh yes, both dragons. Charlie is his name. Can you come out front with me?” Sarah raised her eyebrows at me. Rarely did I say anything that she couldn’t hear, but talking about my sex life in front of my sister felt weird suddenly. I’d previously talked about hookups, and she probably knew too much about my relationship with Stephen. Everything felt different with River. I had feelings that were unlike anything I had experienced before. I wanted any intimacy we shared to be private, and I also wanted to be respectful to River. I didn't have that feeling about anybody in my past.
“Do you think you could crash on his couch tonight?” Rodney looked at me and then back to the office.
“Yes. Of course.” I handed him my spare truck keys.
“I didn’t see your car here. In case you want to go home, take my keys. Take both dragons with you if you do. There is a carrier in his office. Do whatever makes you most comfortable. I’ll text you only if we return to his place, but I hope we won’t.” I tried not to grin.
“Sounds good. I’ll take care of the kids for you two.” He looked at me seriously. “I gather that nobody, but you and I know about this plan.”
