“You, too.” I smile.
“Now go on before you miss your flight,” he says, shooing me away.
“Love you,” I say.
“Love you, too, girl.” He waves me off as I walk towards the entrance and right before I walk through the glass doors, he blows me a kiss goodbye.
An hour later, I sink into my seat on the plane and drop my head back against the headrest, excitement finally filling me as I get one step closer to home.
CHAPTER 59
GRAYSON
Exactly one week after I left London, Liv arrives home in Rosewater Creek. I know this because I’ve been harassing my brother for information.
After I got home, I decided it was time to properly apologise for my actions over the last few weeks, so I called a family meeting of-sorts. It was easier to get everyone in the same room and explain myself once, instead of having to go to each person individually.
The only person I left out of that meeting was Savannah, because I feel like she does deserve a more heartfelt apology. She’s mad at me for hurting her best friend, and I totally understand that.
I also put her in an awkward position in doing so because as long as she’s marrying my brother, I will always be in their lives. Therefore, I have some bridges to mend.
I don’t believe for one second that she’s going to make it easy for me either. Hunter has warned me as much.
I slow my pace as I climb the steps to their house, mentally preparing myself for the grovelling I’m about to do. I rap my knuckles against the door twice and wait.Seconds later, it swings open, and I’m greeted by my very pregnant sister-in-law.
She gives me a tight smile. “Hey, Gray. Hunter’s not here right now.”
I tuck my hands into my pockets and rock back on the balls of my feet nervously. “I know. I’m actually here to see you.”
She nods her head once and opens the door wider. “Come on in.”
I mutter a thank you and step past her. Savannah closes the door behind me and follows me into the living room. “Do you want a beer or anything?”
I take a seat on the sofa and shake my head. “No, thank you. Trying to lay off the alcohol for a while.”
She struggles slightly as she takes the seat opposite me. “Okay, what’s this about?”
I take a deep breath and sit forward, resting my arms on my knees. “I want to apologise for the position I put you in with the whole Liv situation.”
Savannah lets out a sigh. “Look, Gray. It’s a shitty situation to be in, sure. And I mean absolutely no disrespect by this, but I’m far too pregnant and far too uncomfortable to be involved in whatever is going on between you and Liv. I love you both. Liv is my best friend, and you are Hunter’s brother. I don’t want to have to deal with drama between the two of you any time you’re in the same room as each other. And I appreciate you taking the time to apologize to me, but I’m not the person that needs to hear it.”
I nod. “I understand. And I want you to know I’m going to do everything in my power to make it right.”
Her smile is full of pity. “She’s stubborn, Gray.”
A dry laugh escapes me as I scrub a hand over my face. “I’m learning that.”
Savannahs hand lands on my shoulder, squeezing slightly in a reassuring gesture. “Don’t give up on her yet, okay?”
I don’t plan to.
I leave Hunter and Savannahs place feeling lighter. Now that the weight of the guilt I’ve been carrying has been lessened, I can focus on trying to convince Liv to forgive me, too.
I just have nofucking idea how to do it.
