We all clink our glasses together, and Sinclair giggles.
The drive isn’t far. We pull up to what looks like a fancy hotel and the driver gets out, coming around quickly to open our door. Kai slides out first this time and holds out a hand to help both Sinclair and me out of the limo.
Adjusting the front of my dress to make sure all the important parts are still covered, I glance around. My mouth falls open in shock at the sight of the red carpet rolled out just for us, leading into the building. I was right in assuming that this is a hotel; it’s a high rise made mostly of glass, and the parts that aren’t are a beautiful black-and-white marble. Spotlights flicker around, lighting the area, and I’m sure people can see them from five miles away. A doorman dressed in a black suit with a pop of red awaits our arrival at the entrance. This place definitely has fancy down to a tee.
Kai takes my hand, guiding it back to the crook of his elbow, just like when we left the house. Once he leads us inside, we pass through the hotel foyer and reach a set of double doors that must lead to a ballroom. He pushes the doors open, but I can’t see what’s inside because the room is dark. Lights flicker on, making me gasp as people shout, “Surprise!”
