The kiss we shared then was fire, and I suddenly couldn’t wait to get her into my room, naked, and under me.
I opened the door and picked her up, spinning her through the door way, around and around, as she giggled wildly against my mouth, her arms around my shoulders, her feet kicked up until I stopped and she set them back down. She made a surprised noise against my mouth as she stood on her own and pulled back, sucking in a deep breath as she looked around.
The smell of fresh paint in here was stronger, as it was still drying on the walls a bit, battling the humidity of the day.
The room was complete in here. The carpet plush and a dark gray, the walls a navy blue with stained dark wood base boards and crown molding.
I’d bought a full bedroom set. A natural walnut, the bedframe matching the dressers and nightstands.
Overall, the room was fairly masculine. The bed sheets a gray two shades lighter than the carpet, the bedspread a navy that was close to the walls. The aesthetic very uniform and utilitarian with a modern crisp flare and entirely my personality. I was a firm believer that less was more and the room reflected that.
Sandrine took the whole thing in, her mouth dropped open and her emerald eyes wide as she turned slowly, gazing at every small detail in the muted light from the bedside lamps.
“This is so very…youand a shock after the rest of the place,” she said.
“Do you like it?” I asked carefully.
“No,” she said and I felt my stomach drop in disappointment. “Ilove it,” she declared and I swear my stomach did a flip turn one-eighty and shot straight into the stratosphere at Mach five.
She turned back to me grinning and it held a shyness to it as she opened her mouth and took a breath to ask a question but then stopped herself.
I could see the struggle just behind her eyes, as she warred with herself on whether or not to ask, and I think I already knew what the question was.
I took her hands in mine and locked gazes with her and nodded slowly.
“Yeah,” I whispered. “I did all this for you. So that we’d have a place to come so I could love you…” I said.
“That… that’s not… that’s outside what we agreed to,” she stammered and I felt myself tense.
“What, baby?” I asked her.
“You, loving me,” she squeaked.
I stepped into her space carefully and put my hands to her hips, drawing her in.
“Yeah, well, to be fair, you made me,” I murmured.
“I did?” she asked, stunned, but sounding a hell of a lot more sobered up than just a second ago. Her adrenaline had to be going some. “How?” she sounded confused, her voice crumbling with the crushing weight of the emotion.
“By just being you, babe… I don’t know how I could not,” I whispered and she blinked once, long and slowly, as the gears behind those green eyes ground and she tried to process what I was saying.
“Let me show you,” I murmured against her lips before touching mine to hers, letting my hands smooth over the denim covering her hips, and sliding my hands up to her waist, along the exposed skin from her midriff top.
She shuddered in my grasp, and her hands lightly fell to the sides of my face, and fuck I loved it when she did that. Held my face between her hands while she kissed me.
It was one of those things she did thatmmm, fuck, let me know just how into me she was without words.
CHAPTERFOURTEEN
Sandrine…
I felt hot, flushed, andrattledto the point that I felt my hands shake as I put them to his bearded cheeks as much to steady my trembling as I was desperate to be closer to him.
His body was hard and warm against mine, even through our clothes, which were suddenly almost unbearable to have on simply because they were coming between us.
His hands were much defter than mine as he swiftly moved to disrobe me, and I’m afraid that in both my eagerness and my more than slightly inebriated state, I was a clumsy idiot and doing more to get in the way than to actuallyhelpthe situation.
“I’ve got it, just hold on to me and don’t let go,” he said with a shaky laugh andGodwas that the sweetest music to my ears?
