The end of the week was our formal dinner out. We made a list of the haute cuisine of the area and visited them one by one.Omakaseat an invitation only sushi restaurant, another restaurant that was only open from eleven p.m. to one a.m., where food courses were prepared in a duel between chefs. Wearing a low-cut dress and sitting at the front row of tables, Sadie received more than one amuse-bouche from the rival chefs.

Other places were the sort with the black menus that told you what you were having, and there were no prices. Those, the art of the food was exquisite, and the ambiance second to none. I could have been lost and become jaded and decadent to this sort of food, but sometimes a day later we would be having food from comfort places that Sadie knew. Having a diner griddle top lunch was sobering after the heady richness of a Nouveau French dinner the night before. There was an art to hash browns that could only be appreciated after foie gras and merlot.

Things became easier after the first few weeks. The tension and worry drained out of Sadie. This wasn’t going to be a repeat of the bunker, and there wasn’t a sense of doom and dread hanging over us. She learned quickly, and she started to give as good as she got as her confidence grew. This overlapped into other areas. She became more precise at the rifle range. Smaller handled pistols dramatically improved her one-handed marksmanship.

She was more assertive in picking her own wardrobe, not just accepting what I thought she would look good in. Then she was accessorizingus, picking colors and patterns that went with the dresses she had chosen for herself. There was a little struggle between her and Lach, but they had to come to their own accord, his own sharp sense of style and her more organic one. The harder he fought against pastels, the more she wanted him in them.

She almost always did our ties for us and her knots were becoming as crisp as my own. God love her for that.

Chapter Fourteen

Lachlan…

Life on Phoenician Boulevard was something that I hadn’t expected could be possible, it was almost like heaven. Everything had fallen into place in ways I didn’t know they could. One of my oldest flaws, my attention span, was even sated. Nothing became tiresome, the sparring matches three to five times a week would have bored me, except that there was still that line that could be crossed where the spar could get real. There was another line that could be crossed, the other way, and the next thing I knew I could be balls deep in Sadie. It was a coin toss what direction that would be from.

The food was the same, we bounced back and forth from Roan’s pretentious fancy stuff to Sadie’s fast-food tastes, and there was something that just made that fucking work. Even with the week laid out on a schedule, that didn’t make it feel rote, or like a trap.

Dancing? Sure.

Dive bars and live music? Oh yeah, we did that too.

One night we could be down at the Yacht Club, eating fresh caught crab and duck filet. The next we could be having a low-country boil on the beach because that’s how this new rustic restaurant rolled.

Movie night definitely improved, since we shared the remote. It wasn’t always old crusty cowboy movies, or black-and-white movies that people holding trash cocktails bragged about being the best, even though they were hard as shit to sit through. Sadie took it as almost a personal mission to indoctrinate me into Disney, sitting through films that were older than we were, some older than our deceased parents, some older than even our grandparents.

But I got to pick a few movies, and thank God and special effects for that. If I had to sit through The Little Mermaid and Chariots of Fire, they could sit through some high octane bare fisted beat ‘em up.

The winner there was a little gem that I remembered from when I was young, one of the few movies that held my attention deficit eyes,The Professional. They were attentive and appreciative through the shoot’em-up violence and Jean Reno, the consummate French hitman.

“This movie is one of the things that showed me what I wanted to be when I was a kid,” I said, looking over at the two of them. They were both looking at me like I was an alien.

“Mate, where was this movie before?” Roan asked. “I mean, after all of the Michael Bay explosion and computer graphic garbage you’ve made me watch; and you knew about this movie the whole time?”

“This movie makes me want to wear a choker,” Sadie said, smiling at me.

“It’s certainly a fashion statement,” Roan said. “And an easy one to accommodate. I think there were a few complementary ones in that last personal shopper delivery you got the other day.”

“Oh, Ihaveto go look.” She popped off the couch and vanished into her bedroom. Technically it wasabedroom, but for all intents and purposes, it was her large closet, with a bed in the middle of it, since we all basically slept in Roan’s master bedroom.

A few moments later she returned, and I heard Roan’s suck in a breath. I looked up to see her standing by the doorframe, naked save for a black choker on her neck. In the light of the television, she was lit like some dark goddess. Her skin was as bright as her bush was dark, and her nipples, I felt my own heart give a lurch.

“Boys,” she crooked a single finger and beckoned for us to follow her, “your presence is required.”

We both came off of the couch and followed her, her perfect ass leading the way.

“I don’t want to waste time, so take off your clothes,” she said, pointing for us to go into her bedroom. The bed was technically a queen size, more than enough for one, comfortable for two, but for three?

I was the quicker to undress, and for that reason and that reason alone she had me first. Roan was still fighting with his slacks when she took me into her mouth. I wasn’t even completely hard; I hadn’t had the time to work it up. The sensation was beyond what I had imagined, and she seemed amused by this. She squeezed my balls and pulled on them. I groaned and Roan cussed, finally free of his slacks and boxers. She gestured, for him to come to her.

I was hard when she released me from her lips. This reminded me of the Sadie from the train, but she didn’t feel stressed or frayed. She felt excitingly assertive.

She stroked me, and pulled Roan to her, so she could suck his cock too. There was something about watching her take all of him that just made me harder. She made those wet noises, taking almost all of him into her, and I was amazed that she could breathe, it must have been going down the back of her throat. I looked at him, and had to stifle a laugh, his eyes were almost gone into the back of his head.

When she did come up off of him, she looked up at both of us, stroking us both. “I want you both to fuck me.” She made the last part of fuck a hard k. “Bothof you.” She looked at Roan.

“Okay,” he said.

“Not okay.” Her voice seemed richer than normal. “You’re not going to make love to me, we’re not going to have sex, Mister Roan, you are going to fuck me.”
