Liam shoots up, and I laugh at his excitement as he pushes his wheelchair atfullspeed.
“Liam, slow down!” I only laugh harder as he ignores me.
Kyle is dying of laughter as Liam gets him to second base before the other kids can even figure out who to throw the ball to.
When my watch buzzes again, I let one of the parents pitch and walk toward the middle of the field to answer Angie’s call.
“Hey, Ang, is everything okay?” She normally doesn’t call back to back once I decline her call so I try to listen closely as the kids yell behind me.
“Are you sitting?” She sounds excited, and I feel myself growing nervous.
“No?”
“You want to sit for this.”
I bit my lip in anticipation and take a seat in the middle of the field. A few of the kids tell me to stand and get in position but I tell them I’m taking a break as Angie goes on.
“You were invited to New York's fashion week.”
I wait for her to add more but she doesn’t and I let out a soft laugh. Being that Florence is a designer and always a part of New York's fashion week, I’m always there, along with the rest of The Core Eight.
“That’s it? Angie, I get invited every year. I thought–”
“And Milan.”
At that, my eyes widened just a bit. I was invited to Milan’s fashion week last year, but since I’m a Moore Girl now and Vincent’s name isbrandedin Italy, I was kind of expecting that.
“And London.”
“AndLondon?” My heart rate picks up just a bit, and after she tells me Jade Marine, thedesigner, invited me, my jaw is on the floor.
“And by Colette Dubios… in Paris.” She sounds like she’s smiling ear to ear, and I go still.
“Colette Dubios?” My jaw drops before I quickly pick it up. “You’re joking.” I wait for her to tell me she’s messing with me, but she’s quiet on the other end. “Angie, tell me you’re joking!”
She laughs, but I need to stand now.
“I was invited to all four locations?” I don’t let her answer as I let out a scream. “I was invited to all four locations!” I’m quite actually jumping with joy when Liam runs to me.
“What is it?” He looks around the ground before lifting me. “Is there a bug or something? What’s wrong?” He keeps his eyes on the ground and makes sure to keep my feet away from whatever he thinks I’m yelling about.
I let out a laugh before throwing my arms around his neck and wrapping my legs around him. “I’m going to fashion week!”
“You always–”
“In all four locations, Lee!”
“I don’t know what that means, but we’re happy–”
“YES, WE’RE HAPPY! AHH!”
“Well, now I’m also deaf, so thank you for that!” His laugh fills my ears before he puts me back down on my feet, and I grab hold of his hand before running in place excitedly.
“Yayyy!” All of the kids run over to us and scream excitedly, and I break into a laugh.
“Why are we screaming?” One of the kids covers his ears before looking over at his dad, who hands him his noise-canceling headphones, and Liam tries to get everyone to settle down so he doesn’t get overstimulated, butIcan barely settle down.
“Did we win?”
