Tears pricked the back of my eyes, so I blinked a few times and willed them away.
“Well, if you want to waste your time, that's on you,” I attempted to joke because I wasn’t quite sure how to handle the kindness.
Beck rubbed a thumb over his lower lip, drawing my attention there. “Faith told me she invited you upstate.”
I crossed my legs, ignoring the ache between them. “She did.”
“And do you plan to come?” He glanced at this watch. “We plan to leave at nine.”
“Not giving me much notice, Bennet.”
“You can sleep the whole drive, Marks.”
I shifted again. “You'll let me play sleeping beauty while you shuttle us to the country?”
He shrugged. “It’s not a hardship to want to take care of you, Marks.”
Without thinking, I scooted my chair back. Beck watched as I rounded the table. He was far enough away from the table that I could slide onto his lap. He welcomed me there, his hands resting hesitantly on my hips, applying just enough pressure to hold me in place without crossing into inappropriate territory.
“Tighter, Bennet.”
He swallowed, and I bent down to kiss the column of his neck, his Adam's apple bobbing.
The man hissed, straightening his arms to put a modicum of distance between us. “Luna. Damn it, woman, you're torturing me here.”
A chuckle rumbled from my lips. “Good.”
CHAPTER29
Beck
“Good.”
It was like I had a steel pipe in my pants. The woman was pure sin. A goddess in her signature silk robe. Her hair was unbound and wild. Not the perfectly coiffed hairdo she usually wore.
I released a hand from its hold on her hips and drove it through her strands. She practically purred as she leaned into the touch.
“You're distracting me.”
Luna leaned in and nipped at my ear. “No idea what you're talking about.”
“Liar.”
The smile that touched her lips was a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day. The exhaustion from a long day of new, demanding clients and shifting of staff to accommodate the chaotic schedules of the people we protected. She extinguished that all with one twitch of her lips, one broad smile. Suddenly everything was a little bit better.
I’d do everything in my power to hold onto that feeling. To hold onto her.
“Come with us tomorrow.” I barely managed the words as she proceeded to cup the back of my neck and drive her fingers through the bottom of my shortly cropped hair, her fingernails sending a shiver down my spine and straight to my hard dick.
There was no world in which she couldn’t feel it harden beneath her. Suddenly, she pulled back, a hint of mischief in her eyes as she rocked back and slid her hands down the front of my shirt. I wore my signature black tee, having shucked the leather jacket the second I arrived home earlier in the evening. Now I wish I still wore it to put an extra layer between us. Well, my brain wanted that, my lower half wanted other things.
Luna rocked one more time against my dick, this time harder, the rocking, not the dick, before slipping off me.
I breathed a sigh of relief, but it was short-lived. The woman dropped to her knees in front of me.
“Luna—”
She ran her hands along my thighs and the sight of her down there, showered in moonlight, her wide eyes on me made me crave things, dirty things.
