“What’s wrong, dad?”

“Somebody is trying to scare Miss Lily, so I’m gonna go make sure she’s okay. I’ll drop you and your sister off at Sav’s.”

He nodded and packed his backpack while I dialed Sav up. She answered on the first ring.

“Hey, Moose. What’s up?”

“Somebody is trying to scare Lily. Stabbed a note telling her to leave in her hotel door. Can I drop the kids off?”

“Shit! Of course! I’ll have Hawk call some of the other guys to get there now.”

I smiled. “Thanks, baby girl. You’re the best. See you soon.”

Nova and Maddox were already waiting at the door when I came down the steps. Nova hugged me as I grabbed the keys to the truck.

“Is Miss Lily gonna be okay?”

Maddox opened the door and smiled at his sister.

“Of course. She’s got dad and all the guys to help her.”

I couldn’t help but smile at my boy. He was growing up so fast right before my eyes.

“That’s right. I’m gonna go make sure she’s okay and then find somewhere safe for her to stay.”

We all hopped in the truck and headed toward Sav and Hawk’s place.

“She can stay with us, daddy. Our house is safe, right?”

I looked in the rearview mirror and smiled.

“That’s a great idea, baby.”

I dialed the prospect as I drove. A few rings and he answered.

“Hey, man. I need you to watch Sav’s house. Bringing the kids.”

“Heard about Lily already. Axe is on his way to the hotel now and I’m heading to Sav’s with ice cream.”

I chuckled. “Perfect, brother. See you soon.”

As we pulled onto Main Street, I could see the prospect waiting out front for me. I pulled up, and he opened the door to grab Nova.

“Guess what, pretty princess? We’re having an ice cream party!”

Nova clapped and smiled as he picked her up. She may think she was a big kid, but she was our baby.

Maddox got out and grabbed the bags. Hawk ran over and helped grab a few.

“Ice cream and video games all night, buddy. You ready?”

I shook my head, “I’ll be back soon.”

Both kids waved as they headed up the stairs. I turned my truck toward the hotel and booked it.

As I pulled into the parking lot, blue and red lights lit up the dark night. I parked near Lily’s car and got out to look for her.

I turned and saw her near the office with the police. As soon as she saw me, she ran. I picked up my pace and opened my arms as she came flying into them.
