I drove in front while he followed me. Moose looked fucking hot on his bike, his long hair blowing in the wind. He was rough and tough and I wanted him in the worst way the more time I spent around him.

But that could never happen. I needed to stay far away from that line and protect myself. I couldn’t go down that path again.

I pulled down the long dirt driveway and parked in front of the house. It was a cute little cottage that looked like it came right from a fairytale book.

The real estate agent smiled when he saw me step out of the car, but as soon as he heard Moose’s loud motorcycle, his smile turned into a frown.

Moose parked the bike behind my car and walked over to stand next to me. Just him being beside me made that lust come bubbling up.

The real estate agent cleared his throat and looked between Moose and I.

“Well then, let’s get this over with.”

I followed behind as he quickly pointed things out in the home. It seemed as if he was rushing to get as far away as he could from us.

“Could we slow down? I would like to get a good look at the home.”

The agent turned on his heel as we walked outside.

“I’m going to be frank with you. I don’t think this will work out. If I had realized you were...one of them... I would have turned you down right away.”

“One of them?”

He locked up the home and turned to me.

“Yes. A criminal.”

I laughed and adjusted my purse.

“I’m an attorney, not a criminal.”

“Yet here you are with one of those scums from the local gang. This will not work out, Missus Banks.”

He walked away and got in his car, leaving Moose and me alone at the cottage. Frustrated beyond belief, I screamed.

“Fuck! I cannot believe that just happened! I can’t live in a fucking hotel anymore!”

Moose walked over to me and pulled me into a hug. As his muscular arms wrapped around me, I melted into him.

I could feel tears coming, but held them back. I wouldn’t cry in front of him.

“Shit, princess. I’m so fucking sorry. That guy was a dick.”

Leaning my head on his chest, I slowly wrapped my arms around him.

“I can’t keep living in a hotel.”

“Shhh. It’s okay. We’ll find you somewhere. Let’s go get something to eat and then we’ll figure it all out, okay?”

I looked up and saw that he was gazing down at me. I wanted to lean up and kiss him, but pulled away, fixing my jacket around me.

“I’m sorry for losing my shit. Just everything is hitting at once. Everything with Tessa, the hotel, my ex calling me, the nightmares. And now not getting this place was just the icing on the cake.”

Moose stroked my back. “What nightmares and what ex?”

“The lawyer ex called me. Begging me to come back. Nightmares from the past you brought up.”

“Shit, princess.”
