He paced back and forth, muttering to himself while looking out a small hole in the wall. Turning to me he started to cackle, “They’ll never find you here, Princess. Never. We won’t be here long anyways. In a few hours we’ll be gone. They’ll come sniffing around here and then my plan will all come together.”
He walked toward the back of the barn and opened a small door, heading outside. I briefly saw the sun setting, knowing it was going to be dark soon and my chances to escape would be easier in the dark.
I hung my head down but refused to let any tears fall. Quickly snapping my head back up, I remembered the tracker in my necklace. They could find me!I just hoped it would be in time before Danny dragged me back to the city. Squinting my eyes, I tried to look around the barn, seeing if I could use anything as a weapon or an area to hide in. Danny hadn’t tied the rope too tight so I could move my wrists around and possibly escape, I couldn’t let him take me. I started to move my fingers around, testing to see if I could untie or loosen the rope.
The back door flew open and Danny came stomping into the barn. “Things are going just as planned, Princess. Soon we’ll be together again. We may have to leave the country for a bit as this all dies down, but we’ll be together.” I took a deep breath as he slowly walked toward me. Danny reached out and stroked my cheek, “My Little Princess. Lilah, don’t you see that we belong together? Why do you act like this? I gave you everything. Don’t you want a good life?”
I turned at the last second and bit down hard on his finger. He jumped back, his bloody finger mangled from my bite. He pulled my head back by my hair again and punched me in the stomach. “Lilah, Lilah, Lilah. You need to stop this nonsense.”
I was gasping for air when he reached for my throat, “You will learn, my Princess.” He squeezed my neck even tighter as he got closer to my face. “I swear to you, Lilah, you will learn to submit to me. Just wait and see what I have in store for you in our new home.”
He released my neck and walked toward the small hole in the wall, looking around to make sure nobody was coming. I prayed that Striker and The Devil’s Highwaymen would come for me. They would be the only ones to be able to save me from this nightmare and finally take Danny out. He slowly stalked me around the chair.
“You’re a piece of shit, Danny. Striker is going to kill you if I don’t get to you myself.”
He whipped around and grabbed my face in his hands, “Stop talking! I can’t think when you keep talking!” I could tell I was getting to him, he was starting to lose his cool.
“Come on, Danny. You’ve got to know this is a lost cause. Do you really think this is an airtight plan? I thought you were smart. Clearly you’ve lost your edge since you can’t move on from me and can’t get any other woman.”
He tightened his hold on my face, his fingers digging into my cheeks. He tore away from me and started pacing again, checking his cell phone every few minutes. “You couldn’t even keep me. You’re scum, Danny. Everybody knows it. Too bad you weren’t man enough to keep me, your life would have been so much better.”
He turned his dark eyes on me, “Enough, Lilah! Shut the fuck up, you bitch!”
I laughed and stared him down, “You aren’t even half the man Striker is. He knows how to bring a woman pleasure. I mean you saw what we did, how Isubmittedto him in the most intimate way.”
Danny lunged toward me, ripping my hair while wrapping his other hand around my neck. “Shut the fuck up, Lilah! Why can’t you even just listen!” His face went from twisted and angry to happy and laughing. He was crazy and I was playing a dangerous game. “Oh, my sweet Princess. You just wait and see what I have planned for that criminal.”
He let go of me and stalked toward the hole again, frantically searching outside. “You’ll never see that disgusting excuse of a human again. He will come hunting for you here, but we’ll already be gone. All of those criminals will come storming this place and BOOM. Blown to smithereens!” Danny cackled an evil laugh and I screamed.
“No! You can’t do that! Just take me please! I’ll go with you! Please don’t hurt them, those are my brothers, my family. I’m begging you, Danny.” Tears started rolling down my face, I couldn’t keep them contained any longer. My brothers and the love of my life were going to die, all because of me.
“Too late, Little Princess. Now time to get some rest while I work. Can’t have you distracting me anymore.” Danny let go of my neck, grabbed a rag out of his pocket and shoved it over my mouth. The slightly sweet chemical smell attacked my nose and mouth. I started to get light headed and spots clouded my vision. “Sleep tight, Little Princess.” Danny’s manic face was the last thing I saw before sinking into the darkness.
