“Won’t you be in trouble?”

He shrugged.

“A man of many words, I see,” I smirked.

He shrugged again.

“Tell me about the girl,” he said, handing me my drink.

I laughed, “she’s an old friend of ours. She’s actually the one who sold out Lilith’s to your family.”

“Ah,” he nodded, “I remember.”

We all worked at Lilith’s Club. We started out as dancers before the former owner encouraged us to expand. We were so close to taking down the Santino’s all together. So close to taking over everything, to being in charge and running things how we wanted to run them. That was until Sierra told them about our plans and accepted a large chunk of money, giving them our names.

We could have been killed.

We would have been, if not for Antoni’s love for Rome.

Sierra didn’t even know about their relationship, and had no issue signing our death warrants in exchange for cash. When things went wrong, she then tried to kill Antoni in hopes that it would get her back on our good side.

It didn’t.

“I better get this drink to Larissa,” he said quietly.

I nodded, and we scanned the crowd together.

“She’s back over annoying Toni,” I pointed to the bridal table and he sighed.

“Does it hurt?” I asked.

He tilted his head and frowned.

“I mean, you’re obviously in love with her, and she’s obviously in love with Toni.” I gestured towards the scene in front of us.

“She’s not. I mean, I’m not,” he stuttered.

“Wow,” I smiled, “you really are whipped.”

He stepped closer to me, his jaw hardening and his face stern. Until now I had doubted that he was like the rest of The Santino’s - but I saw the threat plastered onto his face.

“Stop,” he said menacingly.

I looked to the floor.

He swallowed and looked around, but didn’t leave. It was like he had something else to say, but nothing came out. After a few moments he turned on his heel and disappeared into the crowd.

“Whipped,” I mumbled as I shook my head and took a sip of my drink.

Three Weeks Later

“Alright,” Antoni sighed into the phone, “well, stay safe.”
