She watched me as she finished her drink in its entirety, and I knew the gesture was meant as a warning. Almost as an unspoken threat.
After a beat of silence, she sighed.
“Shall we call it a tie?”
I shook my head and she raised her eyebrows.
“I like winning,” I shrugged.
“It seems like you just like getting your way.”
“Always.”

Ireturned to Lilith’s for the next few nights.
Bit by bit, I was piecing together how the club seemed to run. Every time I showed up, Rome was never working until Diana told her that she indeed would be. It had become obvious to me that she was not a dancer. There was something more here that was waiting to be uncovered.
Mother was happy that it looked like I was taking charge, little did she know how much of it was because I wanted to see Rome. I had to be careful not to let down my guard around her.
As beautiful as she was - she was still the enemy.
She intrigued me, as did the little game we were playing. It was the most fun I had had in a long time. Tonight, it seemed she was prepared for my return and was already dressed in the familiar black lingerie that she wore the first night that I had surprised her with my presence.
“A drink?” she asked, heading towards the bar.
We had spent most of the last nights together drinking and asking each other questions, learning about each other.
I had a suspicion that she was bending her truth, but I didn’t care.
“Let’s go out,” I said, tilting my head toward the exit.
She smiled.
“Sure,” she said, putting a hand on my shoulder and letting her finger run down my chest briefly, “give me a few minutes to change.”
I nodded, and she shot me another wary glance before she left the room. I exited the club and waited by my car. When she came down the stairs, she wore her boots once again, and a black coat, tied tightly around her waist.
Her hair was still down, and she pushed it back as she said goodbye with a kiss on the cheek to the bouncer at the front stairs. I noticed his hand wrap around her waist as he shot me a deathly glare from across the road.
As Rome joined me, I wondered if he knew who I was as he puffed his chest and crossed his arms, trying to appear larger.
I opened the passenger door for her, and she stepped into the low seat. Closing the door, I waved to the bouncer as I got into the driver’s seat.
“Smart ass,” Rome mumbled, rolling her eyes.
She crossed her legs and her coat rode up, exposing her tan thigh. My hand involuntarily twitched, wanting to reach across and lay my hand on it.
“Where are we going?” she asked.
I shrugged, “I don’t know yet,” I said, turning the key and starting the car.
She shrugged and nodded.
