“Uh, boss,” Liam called from somewhere behind me. “You’re rambling again.”

“Sorry about that…” I laughed, shook my head and stood. “I think I might be a little delirious. It’s been a while since I’ve cut a limb from a body.”

She’d somehow managed to get up on her knees by the time I looked at her again.

“Are you going to kill me? I told you everything and—”

I put a bullet between her eyes.

“Of course, I had to kill you,” I mumbled with a yawn before turning my attention to Liam and Lorcan. “Drop her body, Frank and his leg on the church’s doorstep tonight.”

“And what should we do about the Mikey and Jonas she mentioned?” Lorcan asked.

“Bring them to me, of course…” I lifted an eyebrow as I peeled the jumpsuit, face covering and gloves from my hands and body, leaving them in a heap on the floor. “Oh and we’re going to church first Sunday, dress nice.”

They nodded and I left them to handle the mess I’d made. Five hours after leaving Blair, I returned to find her sitting on counter with a bowl in her hands.

I walked up on her slowly, sensing a little hostility.

“We just made up,” I said, fingers gripping her bare thighs as I stepped between them. “Tell me what’s wrong and I’ll fix it.”

She huffed and set her bowl aside.

“You made me wake up alone like last time.”

I tipped her head up.

“I’m sorry,” I whispered, leaning forward to press my lips to hers. “I had to handle something important.”

“More important than being with me on our wedding night?”

It was four in the morning, the sun hadn’t made its appearance yet and wouldn’t for another three and a half hours.

“It’s still night, isn’t it?”

She hummed, eyes searching mine as she sniffed the air.

“You smell like blood.”

I smiled when she pressed her nose in my neck.

“Mm. Seems my effort to keep the stench off me didn’t work.”

“It’s okay…” she replaced her nose with the flick of her tongue. “I like it.”

I pushed her head back and tipped mine.

“When did you stop hating blood?”

I wasn’t sure if this sultry, magnetic look in her eyes was meant to confuse or seduce me. But it was doing both, the latter taking lead.

“When I saved Esmeralda,” she said softly, angling her head slowly to match mine. “I’ve done things to people and it made me feel like I could do anything. Why didn’t you tell me about the rush you get from it?”

There was a whimsical note to her tone as the rise and fall of her chest increased. The changes had been subtle but I noticed them immediately.

“You love that shit, huh?” I asked, tugging her forward by the neck. “I didn’t tell you there was a rush because you came home on breaks and pretended not to be in the life.”

Her pretty ass lips went from slightly parted and into a pout almost immediately.
