“At the Canadian border.”

I frowned.

“You do know if you went with him, both of you would be on the run, right? Do you think it makes sense to rent a moving truck while trying to evade your enemies with endless amounts of resources to track you down?”

Her moment of realization was a sad one but I had to drive my point home.

“Yesterday, your husband left an apartment building in Harlem in the wee hours and we followed him to a residential address in Ithaca. Do you know what was in there?”

She shook her head and my frown deepened.

“He made multiple stops along the way, the last one in Bushkill. Do you want to know what was found inside?”

Another head shake but I was going to tell her anyway.

“Guns and money that doesn’t belong to the mob. My guess is the Albanians. Do you think you could evade two criminal organizations at once?”

This time her response was firmer than before, even though the hurt was obvious.

“No, I don’t.”

I nodded and stepped between her and Niamh’s gun, knowing she would lower it.

“Good. I’m glad you understand. Now, I need you to tell me everything you know. No detail is insignificant. Your livelihood depends on this information.”

There was no telling what would happen to Viviana once Caroline caught wind of her sister’s deceit, but that wasn’t my problem to unpack.

After spendingall fucking day apart, Blair had me at the airstrip waiting for Esmeralda’s plane to land.

I wasn’t convinced she didn’t want revenge for our deal with Demetrius. Was she that out of her fucking mind that it didn’t matter?

Maybe. But she’d have to prove it before I allowed her and Blair to be alone.

“Stop frowning, Oisin.”

My wife stepped in front of me and wrapped her arms around my neck. I peered down at her, still wanting to express how I felt on the matter of her so called friend but finding it hard to do so.

She was so goddamn pretty.

“I love your nose,” I whispered, tapping it with my index finger. “And your eyes. Lips. Everything about you.”

Blair’s eyes searched mine.

“It’s important I do this,” she said, pulling her bottom lip between her teeth. “I had so many mixed emotions about Esi, and forgot she doesn’t really have any at all. What I thought was significant to her was just a game.”

We’d had a debrief with Finn and Violet about our equally interesting days. I’d been feeling like my aunt knew more than she’d been letting on.

I didn’t understand why she’d choose him over her daughters, who loved her deeply. My ma was different but somehow they were cut from the same cloth.

“But we’ve always balanced each other out,” she went on. “So I’m going to try and you won’t interfere, got it?”

Without permission, my lips spread.

I liked when she told me what to do.
